Dave Weigel on Rachel Maddow.

Edit: Posted longer version of video to include Dave Weigel interview portion. Great job, Dave.

Media Matters put together a little video covering some of the many lunatics fueling the Birth Certificate conspiracy.

Larry King, James Carville, Liz Cheney.

Carville was right. He didn't even go after Liz about her incorrect statements about the President, but only that she wouldn't condemn the birthers. He said the party was playing to the nuts. And, she didn't prove him wrong.

Speaking of Carville, I haven't seen it mentioned lately that "The Obama Nation," Jerome Corsi's disgraceful pack of lies that forms a bulwark of the birfer movement, was published by Mary Matalin, who had the chutzpah to refer to it as a "a piece of scholarship, and a good one at that."

And he was one of Hillary Clinton's loudest anti-Obama attack dogs during the primaries.

I don't particularly like or care for Carville.

I don't trust him either. I used to, but not anymore. Carville made his name and gained his fame with the Clintons and I believe he was shocked beyond belief when Hillary didn't get the nomination, when he realized he had hitched his wagon to the wrong star. He's been trying to claw his way back to relevance but he was so anti-Obama (while trying to appear not to be - it's a particular southern art, damning with faint praise) that he put off a lot of people who see him in a completely different light than they did in the days when he was working for Bill Clinton's team. Carville strikes me as self-serving and duplicitous, and his choice of wife alone makes me question his judgment.

MSNBC are really getting to the meat of the matter now, over at media matters (I don't know how to embed videos) Dylan Radigan and his guests on "Morning Meeting" basically got to the bottom of it and said it is blatantly racist. Johnathan Capehart also said that we should not ignore these dangerous people that they must be called out for it. Very interesting clip.

Here is a nice article about why we shouldn't ignore birthers, and as PatGund has been pointing out for a while now over @ YtD, that most birtherism is simply thinly veiled racism.

Love him or hate him, Carville's earned lifetime relevance, at least as a pundit. And before we start criticizing punditry let's remember where we are. ;)

Edit: After I posted this, I was trying to figure out why I like Carville. It's always nice to have an attack dog or two on your side, but that ain't it. It's his marriage. I don't know how they do it, but if you can't appreciate that marriage you're missing out on some good ol' fashioned human beauty.

What really bothers me about the MSM talking about this is, how little correct info they give, from claiming it would have to be the grandparents who put the birth announcement in the paper for the conspiracy to be true, to Obama put his COLB on the web to counter the birther claims. Was it not put up to counter the rumors about his middle name?

Birther and Felon G. Gordon Liddy on Hardball

Liddy doesn't sound very good either. He parrots the typical birther lies, but sounds slow, confused, and stumbling.

What a sad sad run down old man that G Gordon Liddy is. He acts like he has dementia, I almost felt sorry for him.

Don't feel sorry for that bastard. I still can't believe he's continually given a public forum to spout his lies and venom. When he appears on programs like Hardball, they legitimize him when he should instead be a complete pariah. There's no reason why anyone should listen to what Liddy has to say about anything; if he says the sky is blue, I'd expect it to be raining.

What a lying fucking tool Liddy is, "there is a deposition" there is no deposition, there is a taped interview whereby the interpreter gets pissed off at the idiots and confirms that POTUS was born in Hawaii, why did Chris not correct the "deposition" bullshit. E-mails people, Chris needs the facts, not bullshit from Liddy.

Dobbs is having another Face Off debate on the BC later this hour.

He's stoked on finally getting some better ratings.

One wonders who he'll chose for the debate, likely people who all agree with him or are unknowledgable, right?
