Got some extra cash?

George Washington's U.S. Constitution up for auction

Quote:
(Reuters) - A gold-embossed piece of U.S. history will go up for sale this month, when Christie's auctions off George Washington's personal copy of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The documents, which date to 1789 and are signed and annotated by the first U.S. president, are poised to fetch from $2 million to $3 million when they hit the block on June 22, the auction house said on Wednesday.

The bound papers constitute Washington's personal copy of the Acts of Congress. These include the Constitution, whose preamble promises to "secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity," along with the draft Bill of Rights - the first 10 amendments to the Constitution which include such fundamental liberties as the right to free speech, press, assembly and religion.

The volume, embossed with "President of the United States" in gold on the cover, was described by Christie's as being in near-pristine condition after 223 years. It was specially printed for Washington in 1789, his first year in office as president.

The margins include Washington's handwritten brackets and notations highlighting key passages concerning the president's responsibilities.

Anyone driving through Illinois this summer might want to stop at the Lincoln Presidential Museum. An original Gettysburg Address is on display through the summer.

I wish to complain about the quality of Troll that Foggy is providing these days. In times past we were had the likes of Moroni and even Dr Taitz herself.

This latest one with his "formatting shtick" is completely useless. I know some of the regulars are trying to play with it, but really, there seems to be simply no challenge at all. It's not even trying!

Sadly, you're right. Someone will have to alert me if there's any real problem in gsgs's threads, because I'm bizzy and I don't have time to read all the posts. It looks like some folks are having a lot of fun with him, but you're right, he's a third-string benchwarmer, not a playa. The last guy we had who was any real fun wasn't even a birther. The quality has gone right to heck.

And for the record, Phil Berg, Aristotle the Hunnybun, Terry Lakin Action Fund and all sorts of other notable birthers have been members at one time or another. Talk about a pickle: We have a Rule Numero Uno, No Exceptions, Prime Directive: No personal insults toward other members of the forum.

Then Orly joins up. NOW what do I do? #-o :P

OK, so anyway, I got us some ink in my local paper. Maybe we'll get a better quality troll or two from that. 8>

It's on the front page of the print edition, too also. Below the fold, but still ...

The headline on the print edition is:

Website Bombards 'Birthers' With Facts

But I only bought 5 copies so far. Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it, overall. :D

It would have been good if they mentioned that so many Fogbowers are trained lawyers, court reporters and legal assistants, so know what they're talking about. But still a very nice piece. :D

Edit: By the way, I forgot to tell you. The one I saw is in the Miami Herald and bylined The (Raleigh) News & Observer, so it's been syndicated.

More better \:D/

Way long ago ... way back when I first got sucked into the vortex ... way back when Orly and Phil ate my brain ... way back when I first stumbled across the greatest online community on the planet, drank the Kool-Aid, and became an Obot forever ...

... I kept tellin' people that when this birther nightmare was over, I had to live with myself. I couldn't just walk away from it. I said that when it was all said and done, I wanted to be proud of the part I played in it. I swore that to myself.

So far, so good. More will be revealed. \:D/

We might be getting a small influx of newbyish questions what with Foggy's sudden ascent to superstar.

Maybe we should set our phasers to stun for now?

I wish I could get a birther, one birther, any birther, to see themselves through a more worldy lens, but they are a sadly provincial lot.

Obama is widely popular throughout the world. Birthers are widely ridiculed throughout the world.

Yep. The rest of the world thinks we are an ignorant blowhards. And the birthers just continue improve on that image abroad.
