Animals are fun. A squirrel in the wrong place knocked out the power for a complete medical center. Also I worked in a business that ended up with a cat that had gotten into the power boxes. You can image all the jokes that came out of that one. Fortunately, the poor thing didn't know what hit it. :( :o :(

I am glad to hear it was only something that didn't drain your wallet. :-bd :-bd

Serpent-handling pastor profiled earlier in Washington Post dies from rattlesnake bite

He called his extended family and congregants to Panther Wildlife Management Area, West Virginia. He was accompanied by a yellow timber rattlesnake that he had had "for years." When the snake bit him, he waited at a relative's house for god to heal him. He had done this before when snakes had bitten him. That did not work out so well this time. Facebook messages asking for prayers flew. Then they called the paramedics, too late.

His father also died from a snake bite while handling serpents in a religious ceremony. He died at age 39 in 1983.

I wonder if god is secretly on the side of the Darwin Awards? It would make a lot of sense.

Edit: On the impoverished region of West Virginia in which this pastor's Church of the Lord Jesus has a dwindling congregation:
Quote:
The region saw a boom in the 1950s to 1970s but fell on hard times in the 1980s. Over the years, four-fifths of the county’s population left. Those remaining are the retired, the unemployed, the drugged-out and the sick.

Quote:
The Pentecostal church was founded in 1956 by Bob and Barbara Elkins. One woman remembers the church being so full people would stand outside. But then one of Barbara Elkins’s children died of a snakebite in 1961 at age 23. These days, Pastor Harvey Payne says, the congregation has 10 members.

Dear Friend,

I am 2LT. Darrell Chandler, an officer of the U.S Army presently serving another tour of duty in Afghanistan.
I just moved to Afghanistan from Iraq as one of the last batch that just left late last December and have some items (2 Trunk cases) I will need to ship to

you.
Can you be trusted? we thank you guys for your prayers.I will only highlight you more on this pending transaction as soon as i hear from you.
Please signal your interest by sending to me your name(s) mobile phone number for immediate and easy communication on the way forward.

Thanks

Respectfully,

Obviously a twist on the Nigerian Prince but they are only asking for a name and cell number. I guess to clone the number and run up billions in charges on your account.

send the e-mail including the headers to the Army CID - this is a case of impersonating an officer.

George W. Bush thanked everyone for coming to his hanging. He made a few good jokes after the portraits were unveiled.

Thought Laura Bush had the best quip: "Nothing makes you feel at really at home like living with the portraits of your predecessors."

W said maybe Obama will stop by his portrait when he wanders the halls at night about some problem and ask himself, "What would George do?" Watching him makes me realize what a great impression of him Will Ferrell does.

Wonkette is having a contest to name what's missing in Dubya's portrait.

I suggested "Chainsaw"

We need one of you techie-video people to put together a montage of all the judges who have ruled against the birthers.

"Motion denied." "I see no merits in your case." "The president is a natural born citizen, case dismissed." You know, rapid-fire, one after the other.

Could come in handy!

Could President Obama nominate himself for a Supreme Court Judgeship shortly (if one open) before the end of his 3rd or 4th term???
