Then her campaign workers have to sift through a bunch of lunatic emails and calls, cuz her flying monkeys will find the correct addy and phone number, whether the campaign or Diane's office.

If we were talking about someone more cunning than Orly, I'd almost be tempted to think she made the debate offer up specifically so she COULD then claim that Feinstein lies and "pulls out" of the debate, but that's just way above Orly's brain bank.

Apparently so. Unreal.

Not to give her any benefit of the doubt, but a *SANE* candidate might be asking people to maybe tuck a bumper sticker (with backing still attached, of course) under someone's wiper or something like that, much as they do with flyers, giving the person the choice as to whether or not to actually affix it to their car, but I kinda doubt that would occur to Orlena.

We have an amusement park locally, and I remember way back when I was still in high school that anytime you went there, you had to remember to put something in the back window of your car (or something similar - I forget exactly) if you wanted to avoid having them stick a bumper sticker on your car. That REALLY pissed my Dad off, and until they discontinued that practice, it was really hard to get him to take us sometimes. Just a weird tangent there... back to Orly now :)

When I was a kid, we used to spend a week or so every summer at Lake George, NY. (This was back in the days of chrome bumpers). Every theme park or attraction had its own bumper hangar, and crews of people would walk thru the parking lots and attach them, with flexible steel wires, to the rear bumper of your car. By the end of the week, we'd always have a collection of them to remove when we got home.

There would certainly be worse use of Democratic votes in the primary - as long as enough actually vote for DiFi to make sure she's in the general :) It'd be pretty awful if, in an effort to stick the Repubs with Orly, DiFi somehow failed to make the ballot. I know, I know, it's almost impossible that would happen, but still...

That is my concern (however remote the possibility) and why I will be voting for Ms. Feinstein in the primary. I still think Emken will be number 2. She is the one endorsed by the state GOP and most people don't know any of the Republican contenders (including Orly) which means they will probably select the name they see most often (mailers, etc.). Heck the only people in my office who know about her are the people who have listened to me talk about it (and we have about 90% voter turnout so these are people who at least pay some attention to politics).

I believe it will be DiFi, Emken, Ramirez, Taitz. Keep askin' if anyone wants to bet me a buck, I'm that confident.

It is two weeks until the primary and I have not seen any mailers for the Senate race. I've seen no one campaigning against Taitz and I've seen no indication that the GOP has put any money where their mouth is. The endorsement of Emken doesn't mean a darn thing if no one knows about it.

YMMV. I am registered "declined to state" and may not receive all the goodies that Republicans receive in the mail.

As for "crossing over" to vote for Taitz, I take my privilege to vote quite seriously and choose the person most qualified, not the person most likely to provide entertainment value.

But maybe that's just me.

So far, I've only gotten one, which was characterized as a slate for "Seniors," although I'm not sure who's got me in that database. It was "vote your conscience" for President (which I found interesting), Di Fi for Senate, and everyone else with an * next to their name, meaning they paid to be on the slate.

I'm registered as a Republican (not my fault - I was slammed when I tried to change from Decline to State to Democrat for the 2004 primary), so I usually see any sort of wing nut goodness they're pushing. But I haven't seen anything primary-related from them.

I totally agree with you about voting for the most qualified. I received a COPS voter guide recently and it had pictures of Feinstein and Emkin (Emkin paid to be placed on the mailer). It was addressed to me (registered Dem.) OR my husband (who is declined to state). Also both sample ballots I have seen (different counties) list the party endorsed candidates in the information section (not sure how many people actually study their ballots though)

Name recognition is a powerful thing, especially downballot. (I realize that a U.S. Senate primary ordinarily wouldn't qualify as downballot, but the California Republicans seem to be doing their best to change that this time.) There are a lot of people who throw out mailers unread. There are also going to be people who know that they don't want to vote for Feinstein, but don't know a lot about any of the Republican candidates. There's a decent chance that they'll vote for the name that sounds familiar, especially if they don't quite remember exactly why it's familiar.

There's virtually no polling on this race. The last thing I saw was the early April SUSA one, which showed DiFi at 51% and nobody else over 2%. We're two weeks out, and Emken's website shows her next event as Thursday. If that's her level of campaign commitment right now, I'm going to bet there's not a lot of internal polling going on either.

There's nothing about this primary that would stun me except Feinstein not coming in 1st. I wouldn't be shocked if Emken comes in 2nd. I wouldn't be shocked if Orly comes in 2nd. I wouldn't be stunned if one of the other nominal Democrats comes in 2nd.

I also wouldn't be shocked if the difference between 2nd and 4th is in the low thousands of votes. What's the recount procedure in that case? Anyone know?

I do know that Orly is going to scream and sue if it's not her in 2nd, but that's about it.

We might as well flood Orly with requests for yard signs and bumper stickers. We'll find out if she has the budget to handle all the requests. In fact, we could start a new thread to see who collects the most Orly memorabilia.

I leave it up to you to decide if you want to notify Orly of any upcoming political events, real or imagined, on friendly or unfriendly territory, invited or uninvited. Someone has to come up with some new way of punking her!

A yard sign? Might have to grab one as a collector's item (for my "Notable Lunatics In History" collection)

Pfft, you ask for one or all of the above, you will get a pdf. file. She expects her "supporters" to print off all of this stuff at their own expense, including the materials to be printed "on". This has been discussed earlier. And then she'll have your email address for future harassment. But hey, don't let me stop you.

I think I will request a yard sign in Russian. It will be more valuable as a collector's item. If anything, I'll see can figure out how to send a PDF file with Cyrillic characters.

Though if you REALLY want to piss her off......

Dr. Taitz is supposed to appear before the voters today at 7pm in Laguna Hills and at 6pm in Escondido area. We need representatives who can appear before the voters on behalf of Dr. Orly Taitz and give 5-10 minutes presentation.

If you would like to participate please call (949) 683-5411

Interestingly, Orly posted this just hours before the events. I wonder why Orly missed these. It couldn't have anything to do with her RICO deadline in Mississippi, could it?

Probably not. But I do wonder.... :-k

Does anyone know what events she missed?

=D> Candidates are given loud microphones. I don't want Orly to have a microphone; she will corrupt the democratic process.

In my district, Art Robinson ran against Peter DeFazio in 2010. Robinson is just as nutty as Orly. And he got 40-45% of the Congressional Rep votes.

Some folks will vote "anyone than a dem". If Orly wins the primary, entertainment would be less than fun. I don't think Orly can beat DiFi, but why risk it?

Some only vote for the person with the neatest-sounding name. They have no clue about either candidate. Although I would have voted for Art Roberts in the 60s, if I had been old enough.

Ok, old timers, who can tell me they remember Art Roberts?

We Anglicized it to "Sabaka" but he was first dog my hubby and I got shortly after we got married, and he was one of the sweetest pups I've ever known. We lost him very suddenly 6 years ago when he was 12 and I still get teary-eyed when I think about it (yes, pathetic, I know.) Anyway, I saw his name so I just had to share him :)
