The primary campaign certainly made it clear that Governor Romney and I have some differences. But there are many significant areas in which we agree: the need for lower taxes, smaller government, and a reduction in out-of-control spending. We certainly agree that abortion is wrong and marriage should be between one man and one woman. I am also comfortable with Governor Romney on foreign policy matters, and we share the belief that we can never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons. And while I had concerns about Governor Romney making a case as a candidate about fighting against Obamacare, I have no doubt if elected he will work with a Republican Congress to repeal it and replace it with a bottom up, patient, not government, driven system.

Above all else, we both agree that President Obama must be defeated. The task will not be easy. It will require all hands on deck if our nominee is to be victorious. Governor Romney will be that nominee and he has my endorsement and support to win this the most critical election of our lifetime.

Just for S and Gs, NJ Gov. Chris Christie told attendees at his latest town hall meeting a few minutes ago that the state is proceeding "minimally" on implementing new health care regulations, because "what's the use of wasting money on something if it's unconstitutional?"

"The people who work for the wire services and the news networks are physically incapable of writing sentences like, 'This election is even more over than the Knicks-Heat series.' They are required, if not by law then by neurological reflex, to describe every presidential campaign as 'fierce' and 'drawn-out' and 'hotly-contested.'"

"But this campaign, relatively speaking, will not be fierce or hotly contested. Instead it'll be disappointing, embarrassing, and over very quickly, like a hand job in a Bangkok bathhouse. And everybody knows it. It's just impossible to take Mitt Romney seriously as a presidential candidate. Even the news reporters who are paid to drum up dramatic undertones are having a hard time selling Romney as half of a titanic title bout."

It is obviously to boost the ratings. If you have a tight race, everyone is paying attention to the news. When you have a snoozer like this one, the advertising and viewing rates go down.

Now Rmoney has the gall to take credit for the recovery of the auto industry. How can anyone take this person seriously or give him credit for any integrity?

Washington Post Account Details Romney’s Prep School Pranks, Bullying

A Washington Post account details the six years Mitt Romney spent at the all-boys Cranbrook prep school. It includes several of his former classmates recalling his boisteroius nature as a prankster, and also reveals some troubling incidents of bullying.

Romney singled out one student, John Lauber, for his “bleached-blond hair that draped over one eye”:

“He can’t look like that. That’s wrong. Just look at him!” an incensed Romney told Matthew Friedemann, his close friend in the Stevens Hall dorm, according to Friedemann’s recollection. Mitt, the teenaged son of Michigan Gov. George Romney, kept complaining about Lauber’s look, Friedemann recalled.

A few days later, Friedemann entered Stevens Hall off the school’s collegiate quad to find Romney marching out of his own room ahead of a prep school posse shouting about their plan to cut Lauber’s hair. Friedemann followed them to a nearby room where they came upon Lauber, tackled him and pinned him to the ground. As Lauber, his eyes filling with tears, screamed for help, Romney repeatedly clipped his hair with a pair of scissors.

The Washington Post has a story today detailing Mitt Romney‘s time at Cranbrook School, a private prep school in Michigan, in the late 1960s. The takeaway: Romney was smart but unathletic, liked to play practical jokes and did all the stupid things people grow up to wish they couldn’t remember (though his spokeswoman claims he actually doesn’t remember).

A recurring anecdote in the Post‘s story is about a peer of Romney’s named John Lauber, a misfit by all accounts. Several guys who were friends with Romney at the time recall an incident in which they pinned Lauber, who was believed to be gay, to the floor in his dorm while Romney cut chunks of his hair off. Those who were involved continue to express remorse about it. This is presumably the “troubling” incident the Post is referring to in its headline (”Mitt Romney’s prep school classmates recall pranks, but also troubling incidents”).

And that’s about the worst of it.

There's also some disturbing stories about the butt of Mitten's "pranks", a teacher with failing eyesight. But the un-athletic Mitt was a member of the Pep Squad and was apparently Cranbrook's version of a cheerleader. Visions of Shrub and Rick Perry are dancing in my head.
