I saw something on tee vee a few months ago about some doctors in New England who study this stuff, and they are finding the beginnings of these brain changes in high school football players who have never even been diagnosed with a concussion. It's alarming, for sure.

I worry about this with my sister the horse person. She has taken some nasty cracks to the head. Always helmeted, but I worry.

It's been a few years since I followed the Chargers or the NFL, so I hadn't followed any of the changes in Seau's life. I used to live down the block from him when he lived on Via Casa Alta (the homes on that road had an extra couple of zeros on their price tags and a view that is unbelievable), and I can imagine that he might have gone through some depression after splitting up with his wife, her moving to Fairbanks Ranch, and he moving back to Oceanside. I imagine more of the story will come out over the next few days. Really sad.

Question for all the lawyers, why are some of you insane? Two of our local ADAs have just resigned their very comfortable $40K per year, paid vacation, state health plan, state retirement plan jobs to set up a law office together here in my town, which is completely and utterly saturated with lawyers. When you get a speeding ticket in our judicial district your mail box gets flooded with letters from lawyers wanting your business, and when I say flooded I mean at least 15 to 20 letters (I know this from experience  ) No one is making any money in this town, there is one lawyer who now advertizes that he will do your traffic case for $30.00 (plus court costs) if you pay cash. The bottom has fallen out of the Personal Injury market seeing as Insurers know that the conservative juries in this county will not award you anything (they seem to think their premiums will go up or something). A quick example of how bad it is, we had a case here where a woman was rear ended by a drunk driver. The jury gave her a goose egg. They are obviously not yet qualified to handle domestic or civil cases, so their practice to begin with will be limited to criminal and traffic court, which already has the pool of lawyers around hear fighting each other for the available business.

So in that kind of environment what makes these two guys think they can set up shop, with all the overhead etc., and make a living better than they are making now? I really don't get it.

Wait!

$40K per year is "very comfortable" there???

Shit! I don't want to move across the country and into hurricane territory, but I'd be really well off compared to them.

What's a house cost around there? Rents?

World Liberation Day is the day of the first full moon in May, May 5-6. The scheduled time is 11:30PM May 5 in New York City. All you have to do is meditate on the Right Things. This includes the arrest of the Rothschilds and Rockefellers.

Reminds me of the glory days of the 1960s and the levitation of the Pentagon on October 21, 1967.

The "amazing new technologies" largely refers to the work done at The Keshe Foundation, especially the work on free energy and other uses of plasma reactors.

Seq a decent three bed two bath house goes for about $130,000 here. Rent is about perhaps $600.00 a month for the same property.

I have a mouse in My bedroom. I havent got a clue what to do. I guess a sleepless night at the computer and a call to the landlord in the morning is in order. I simply CANNOT sleep listening to that thing scampering around. I think it got in when I left the bedroom window open for air today.

I'll be buying moustraps tomorrow first thing. and I have the door to the bedroom shut. But if I have one mouse there may be more, and I live above a Pharmacy so there is health issues to concider there as well. Arrrgh!

Fuck I wish I had a cat or three.

Just got back from seeing Nanci Griffith in Concert (thanks to the Butterfly Lady for giving me the heads-up that Nanci was in town. It wasn't heavily advertised here). Awesome. Some great stories. One of her new songs is a surprise hit in Europe now.

The audience was precisely my demographic. White, 45-65, grey hair, creaky knees but no canes. Lots of LL Bean. As the crowd let out onto the street, we all passed a group of fashionable black men from a club next door. "Looks like something Republican just let out" said one. =)) =)) =))

She also won the Bill of Rights Award from the American Civil Liberties Union for her tribute to Mildred and Richard Loving. (How many sons about Supreme Court cases are there?)

Excellent lyrics and music. If only you could get Kristofferson's voice singing her music. Or Cohen. Or even Lightfoot, maybe. Or Patti Smith. Or Janis Ian. Or Bonnie Tyler.

Somehow I haven't gotten tuned in to Nanci's voice.

Janis Ian is another amazing artist live. I like artists who don't tour on their early hits but keep on writing. Dylan is another.

Sources: Secret Service Agent Involved In Deadly Brooklyn Accident

Sources say a Secret Service agent was behind the wheel of a car that hit and killed a Brooklyn mother on Thursday.

Police say Maria Tripp was hit by a black Chevy Impala as she walked across Atlantic Avenue near Ralph Avenue in Weeksville just before 5 p.m.

"They were crossing the street, a speeder, a car came by speeding. She didn't know which way to move, which happens to anybody sometimes," said Alan Taylor, the victim's brother. "She got hit. The fellow she was with grabbed the two kids and got them to safety."
