Report (ESPN): Craig James to enter politics

James has a wealth of experience taking bribes, he was one of a number of players at SMU who took bribes to play football for the Mustangs, resulting in the only football program death penalty in NCAA history.

If it gets James off ESPN I am all for it. Somehow I knew he was a Republican before I even opened the article.

He was also instrumental in Mike Leach's unjustified firing while acting as a helicopter Dad and general all-around dick head. One of ESPN's finest.

I feel bad for the minority of normal people who are stuck in Texas. The whirling dervish of stupidity that sweeps back and forth across the state is appalling.

That's an insult to whirling dervishes. No one is harmed while they pursuing their ecstatic spiritual practices. You can't say that about the compulsive stupidity of a large number of Texans.

I don't feel bad for them; it's their own damn fault. They have a Constitutionally protected right to move to another state. And if they're so damn stupid that they choose to move to Oklahoma or Kansas (or simply run out of gas money there), that's their own damn fault too.

There's only reason to live in Texas: you actually enjoy keeping company with heavily armed morons in cowboy boots.

Well, rumor has it there is some halfway decent barbecue in East Texas, but that's probably not enough of a reason for most people.

There are some good barbeque spots in Kansas City. I believe I'll stay here (US Army Corps of Engineers flooding and all).

Do they want a known bribe-taker and obnoxious helicopter parent as a US senator? Probably not, but the loonies out number the sane.

I don't feel bad about living in Texas, and I believe I'm far from stupid. I was brought here by my job 11 years ago, and I've stayed even though I don't work for that company any longer. I like it here. Cost of living is decent, I'm not freezing my tuckus in the Winter (though it can be a tad warm in Summer). I may be the blueberry in the tomato soup here, and some of the politicans are idiots (our Governor is a case in point), but a majority of the people are honest, hardworking folks that just want to have a good life.

And no, neither myself nor my friends are heavily armed morons that wear cowboy boots. Though I did have a pair of boots that were the most comfortable shoes I ever wore.

So, guess all I have left to say: Bless your heart, Piffle.

Now that's probably the perfect retort under the circumstances. But yeah, I do enjoy putting a burr under a Texan's saddle every so often if only because stuck pigs have nothing on Texans.

And for those of you who would be serious students of regional rivalries, stereotypes and ignorant prejudices, I learned me my Texas bashing when I lived in Southern Arkansas about 40 years ago. (Think Frank Broyles v. Darrell Royal.)

FYI, Austin is not part of Texas. Sure they happen to house the state capital of Texas there, but that's a geographical mistake. In fact, Austin is a land-locked independent city-state. Similarly, the walk along the river in San Antonio is not a part of Texas either.

Neither is South Padre Island.
