Flushing? HA! We're still working on training the Gumbo kitty to close the door after himself when he comes in. He has the opening-the-front-door-by-himself down pat, he just won't close it. After a couple of instances of forgetting to lock the front door at night and waking up to the door standing wide open, we tend to be more careful about locking up.

Took the two knuckle-headed basenjis to the vet for rabies shots.

Today is my Ellie's birthday!!! Well, it's the day that was assigned to her when she arrived at the SPCA. They estimated her age to be between 3 and 5 years. That was 4 years ago. We've decided that she's 8. She's getting gray hair on the back of her neck, her eyes are starting to get a tiny bit cloudy, and her hips are a little stiff. Vet says she's middle-aged.

She's 10 pounds heavier now. (I pretty much cry when I see the contrast.) She knew we needed her!

When I adopted Trouble, teh tortoiseshell kitteh, and I tooked her to the vet for her free, adopted kitteh check-up, the nice lady at the front desk (Maureen, she rocks.) asked me what I wanted Trouble's Arbitrary Birthday to be. We used the adoption papers and counted on our fingers and came up with July 15th.

Trubs will be 4-ish this July. Megs-the-Cat, best as we can figure given her adopted-returned-adopted status at a caring, but poorly regulated, No-Kill shelter, will be around 10. Or 11. Perhaps, maybe...12? Megs doesn't have a birthday, because we can't figure it out, but the Greta Garbo of Kittehs does have a fambly that loves her, even if she does hide all day. (but when my mom goes to bed? Megs, the hide-a-cat, becomes mom's teddy bear/cuddle buddy. That is priceless.)

Don't forget doggies' smellers break down when they get older.

Ranger, the sheltie's lab work came back and he does not have Cushing's disease.

Also his pancreatitis has cleared up with the new diet.
