(CNN) –In an interview with CNN on Tuesday, Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin did not shoot down the idea of accepting a proposal to run for president should the Republican presidential race lead to an open convention in August.

"Anything is possible. I don't close any doors that perhaps would be open out there, so, no, I wouldn't close that door," Palin said after casting her vote in Alaska's Republican caucuses. "My plan is to be at that convention."

She added that the ideal Republican nominee would be able to "bust through" what she called "Orwellian-Obama rhetoric and pandering."

Pressed on whether she would consider running for office in the future, Palin said she would "seriously consider" whatever she could do to help the country and "put things back on the right track."

Conservative author Ann Coulter on Monday night lamented that “charlatans” like Sarah Palin managed to remain prominent voices within the conservative movement, according to The Shark Tank.

At a Lincoln Day Dinner event in Florida, she was asked about the possibility of a brokered Republican convention.

“One of the ones promoting that is Sarah Palin, who has suggested herself as the choice,” Coulter replied. “I think as long as it’s between us girls, I’ve been observing something about her. I don’t think it’s likely to happen. I don’t know what these people are cheering for.”

Palin told CNN she was open to running for president if Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney can’t obtain enough delegates to get the nomination.

It didn't have to be this way. If Sarah Palin had entered the contest, I'd hypothesize two alternative realities. One, she'd have the nomination sewn up by now. Two, she'd be running even in the polls with the president.

Sarah Palin will guest co-host NBC's "Today" show on Tuesday, signaling a new intensity in the morning show ratings war.

In a statement posted on its website, "Today" promised that the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate will "reveal a different side of her than you've seen before."

The announcement comes after it was revealed that former "Today" host Katie Couric will fill in for Robin Roberts as co-host of ABC's rival morning show, "Good Morning America" this week.
