If you blinked at CPAC, you missed it. (If your iPhone's camera doesn't bother to save everything, you also missed it. Ask me how I know.) Right after Marco Rubio concluded speaking, the voice of Barack Obama boomed over the ballroom audio, over images of poor Africans at work. It was Obama's voice from the audio book of Dreams From My Father.

Flashed onscreen: A map of the world, a circle around Kenya. Then the map spun over to America and Obama writing his memoir, then to images of Africans rioting.

"Obama has a dream," said a new voice. "A dream from his father, that the sins of colonialism be set right, and that America be downsized."

Then a cover of a book, Dinesh D'Souza's The Roots of Obama's Rage. Ah -- that was probably the voice we'd heard. This was a trailer for "2016: The Movie," produced by "Gerald Molen, the producer of Schindler's List," arriving some time in 2012.

To my family and friends and all those well meaning individuals who just don’t get it. For them I say…

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! What is it about murder, killing, terrorism, hate that the sleeping masses do not comprehend.

I am as angry as I’ve ever been. I just watched the terrorist apologists Chris Matthews, Evan Thomas, - and other biased news reporters corrupt the news about an Islamic terrorist who in the name of his Allah shot 55 Americans. What is it about planned murder do they not get? I’m sick and tired of the politically correct environment in this country. Our representatives have no courage, they lack integrity and moral values. They preach to the ‘folk’ about right and wrong and they can’t even define either side. Their apathy, their PC driven bias is going to get more Americans killed and I don’t like it.

Earlier in the year a terrible incident took place between a Yale professor and a police officer in Cambridge, MA and the President came out on national television and told the country, prior to having all the facts, that the police acted stupidly. An Islamic terrorist murders 13 and wounds scores of others and the President comes out on national television and suggests the nation not jump to any conclusions. Which is it Mr. President? Are you being defensive of the perpetrator because he is a Muslim?

The U.S. main stream media excoriated President G. W. Bush because he sat for an additional minute or so with the children he was reading to after Andy card whispered in his ear about the planes hitting the twin towers on 9-11. President Obama is told by his minions about the murder of 13 Americans at Ft. Hood and he continues to banter with his friends in a news briefing and the MSM press says nothing, in fact, they are so quiet about the incident, it had to be picked up over seas before any thing was mentioned here by our MSM.

It should make it very clear to people who are awake and listening and watching what is going on in the world that the American media is so in the tank for the progressive movement or the Democrats or the President and his agenda that it does not matter one iota to them about what happens in or to America…..and if it doesn’t fit or suit their devious agenda. News men and women have either sold their honor and their integrity or placed their allegiance to a few for a few pieces of silver and some ill earned fame.

I get it why Hitler was able to work the propaganda machine in Germany in the 1930’s. He and his Nazi collaborators took over the National Observer (Volkischer Beobachter), the equivalent of our New York Times, put a man in charge, Goebbels, and the lie became the truth. No different than today in America.

• Then, as history tells us, Obama turned it all around. The left began to relax when they realized that Obama was only courting right-wing figures like Rick Warren in order to win elections and pass actual legislation, an unfamiliar concept in recent Democratic politics. Then he shocked the punditocracy with a 77 percent win in the 2012 elections despite polls that showed him losing by an overwhelming margin in the Real America. Subsequent investigations discovered that the Real America had dwindled to one county in southern Arkansas. Also, the 23 percent who voted for Sarah Palin turned out to be the same 23 percent who stuck with George Bush to the bitter end, even after he became a Saudi citizen and started making Laura wear that burqa.

• Within months, the economy finally recovered because unionization led to a large nationwide increase in salaries. Outraged Republicans called for a special prosecutor to investigate this mysterious connection between good jobs and a vibrant economy, because their metrics clearly showed that the economy should only recover when the last American job was shipped overseas. More improvement came as larger numbers of people moved over to Obamacare, which was then able to deliver better health service for even lower prices despite advice from insurance company experts who suggested spending the extra money on a trip to Aruba and a boob job for their mistresses. Then businesses realized it was good for them too because it took health care off their books, so they issued a nationwide apology for all their years of hostile lobbying, including but not limited to their fights against seat belts, federal deposit insurance, and the comic books industry, which they honestly never saw evolving from Menace to Youth to the current boom in brilliant graphic novels.

• Fortunately, Obama showed his skill at kneecapping the opposition by retaining private insurance for the rich, a small consolation given that their children hate them and their wife is having an affair with the hunky guy who cuts the lawn at the community center. The results were predictable: as Karl Rove warned way back in the early 1990s, once people got a decent health care system, they started believing in the power of government again. Some even began investigating the rumors that the early American pioneers bonded together in collective fashion to clear fields and cross the plains and even referred to themselves as members of a "commonwealth." All this led to the tremendous outpouring of national spirit and renewal that has come to be known as the Age of Obama.

The event I speak of, of course, was the presidential election of 2008. We put a man in office, a man not really qualified to be a dog catcher, much less the most powerful man in the world. We refused to listen to what he was saying. We missed the first gasp of incredulity when he promised to transform America. Oh, we bought into the cliched slogans of "hope and change." We liked his smile, his ability to read from a teleprompter, his super-friendly demeanor and his charismatic oratorical skills. Yeah, we jumped in with both feet thinking the country would show the world we had found our mojo and racism was gone forever.

By the way ...

Last month, the conservative side of politics lost a champion of truth and a strong voice in the conservative movement with the passing of Andrew Breitbart. He was a man of high intellect, vision and courage. He never backed away from a fight and was responsible for turning out those who sought to endear themselves at the public trough via their egregious actions and poor moral values. He disclosed them and brought them to the bar of justice for the American people to see and judge for themselves. He was a great example for all of us to aspire to. We cannot allow his passing to be just a closing of another chapter in the fortunes of America. We must carry his part of the burden he was so willing to share for all of us.

This time, I didn't hear back from him. Which is too bad, because the rest of the piece went on to accuse Obama of "outright hostility" to business. D'Souza promised to follow up with a story about "the roots of Obama's rage." This is the theme of the next in a string of frustrating books from D'Souza, and this one made its debut in an earlier Forbes piece called "How Obama Thinks." In it, D'Souza argued that Obama hates capitalism because his father was a Kenyan socialist. The evidence? Obama called his autobiography Dreams from My Father:

Notice that his title is not Dreams of My Father but rather Dreams from My Father. Obama isn't writing about his father's dreams; he is writing about the dreams he received from his father.

By this logic, John F. Kennedy was a gangster because his father ran rum and all the Bushes are Nazis because Prescott Bush did business with the Germans. It's especially puzzling because one of the main conservative attack points against Obama — which appears in D'Souza's lede, for chrissakes — is that Obama and his elitist cabal of Goldman Sachs alumni sold out Main Street by bailing out Wall Street. But if Obama secretly wants to destroy the United States, wouldn't it have been much more effective just to let Wall Street crash?

What I don't understand is this: What's the point of writing such obvious lies? No thoughtful person of either party will ever have any real respect for you, and you're certainly not going to convince anyone who is in real doubt. All you can possibly do is whip up the enthusiasm of the base and sway the more brainless independents.

Now I don't want to be condescending, Dinesh, but I suspect that the reason you don't get the absurdity of this argument is that you have never studied a lick of American history. After all, you were, as you pointed out in your op-ed, raised in India, so maybe it isn't surprising you wouldn't have studied American history growing up. But let me just ask: did Tom Paine have a third world socialist father because he argued against big corporations having too much power and argued for a system of progressive taxation? How about Thomas Jefferson? Or Andrew Jackson? Or Abe Lincoln? Or William Jennings Bryan? Or Teddy Roosevelt? Or Woodrow Wilson? Or FDR? Or Harry Truman? Or the Kennedy brothers? Or Martin Luther King, Jr? Or the thousands of other politicians, writers, and activists who throughout American history have loudly and proudly advocated the same things Obama is advocating for today: reining in the power of big corporations and a system of taxation that follows the common sense principle that those who can afford to pay more should. These ideas are not from Africa; they are not socialist; they are not remotely foreign. They are as rooted in American history, traditions, and values as any set of political ideas out there. Conservatives who try to paint scary pictures of Obama's views as foreign and non-American contort and twist their arguments into such loony territory that they make funny caricatures of themselves.

For the bulk of its running time, the pic comes off as a cavalcade of conspiracy theories, psycho-politico conjectures and incendiary labeling -- "breathtakingly anti-America" is only one of the epithets tossed about like so much confetti -- as D'Souza and assorted interviewees question Obama's patriotism, deny his support of Israel, decry his Big Government programs, and generally recycle claims, charges and dire warnings D'Souza (and others) have previously promulgated in books, lectures, op-ed screeds and various Fox News guest appearances.

To his credit, D'Souza pointedly avoids the extremes of birther fanatics -- early on, he announces Obama was born in Honolulu, and that's that.

They are pushing this.

In additon, the conservative news outlets are pushing a story that Obama's brother, George, asked (and rec'd) $1,000 from Dinesh for his child who was in the hospital. He told Dinesh he's like a brother to him.

I believe this is coming about due to the NYTimes movie review (which was hardly a movie review).

No, I don't believe it. I don't believe George's kid is in the hospital.

Also, the Daily Mail (UK) has a post about George Obama. It's not nice.

But, all this gossip will keep the hatriots busy.

Hell's bells, if George had lived in Massachusetts, he'd of had health care!

A few days ago I received a call from a man I recently met named George. He was a bit flustered, and soon informed me that his young son was sick with a chest condition. He pleaded with me to send him $1,000 to cover the medical bills. Since George was at the hospital I asked him to let me speak to a nurse, and she confirmed that George’s son was indeed ill. So I agreed to send George the money through Western Union. He was profusely grateful. But before I hung up I asked George, “Why are you coming to me?” He said, “I have no one else to ask.” Then he said something that astounded me, “Dinesh, you are like a brother to me.”

Actually, George has a real life brother who just happens to be the president of the United States.

Does anyone believe a word of this?
