I predict that on March 6, 2012, I will bump this thread so everybody learns I'll be gone another week.

Uncanny. No TARDIS. No new rips in the space-time continuum. Even the beer made it through the wormhole this time.

There's too much material to memorize for my Windows 7 certification test. I'm fully dialed in to studying and 99% offline, but I would not have passed the test if I took it today, so I rescheduled for one week from today, March 13.

Miss y'all, but I needed the break. I'm kinda minimally keepin' up, and I'm really enjoying the immersion in computer technology, a thing far beyond the scope of my imagination.

I'll be back in a week, all refreshed and prob'ly several years younger. How many more miles, Momma?

Take a few breaks for physical exercise. It helps.

Good luck.

See you in a week.

I'm sure you don't need luck today Rooster, just an absence of bad luck.

I didn't ace it. I didn't pass it. I wuz robbed.

There were at least two dozen questions (out of 80) that were not covered in the study guide. Microsoft did this to me the last time I got certified, too.

I have the Microsoft Windows 7 Configuration Study Guide, and I know it cold. I was taking practice tests on the DVD this morning, no preview, hadn't tried the practice tests before, and I was consistently scoring 85% - 95% on them. If it's in this book, I know it.

And I was sitting there during the exam, not thinking "This one is on the tip of my tongue" or "I should know this one, I just can't think of it" or "I wish I'd studied harder."

I was sitting there thinking "WTF? Where did these questions come from? How am I s'posed to know that?" :madz2:

Last time this happened, I found another book for another $50 that had all the answers, and once I managed to study all the answers I passed it easily. Damn, Microsoft pisses me off. But I don't really need the certification immediately for what I'm doing. I got time to work on a Plan B. It's all good. I plan to survive the experience in good order and I learned a lot of good stuff in any event.

So, umm ... yeah. Did I miss anything around here?

Tell ya what I didn't miss. I didn't miss Sheriff Joe. OK, I missed seeing it live or on replay, but I saw the effect as the birthers all went yay a lot. Now there seems to be a lot of head-scratching in places like Corsi's Facebook page. Wasn't that s'posed to do the trick? Where are the marching frogs already? Why are the grownups still not paying attention to us?

I also didn't miss the PPP poll that said there are more birthers than ever, and damn near half the Republicans are birthers. On my own local forum, JROB and others who were never birthers no matter how much they hated the president are starting to wonder if there's really something wrong with the LFBC. They're buying into the story about the missing week of flight arrival manifests. They were impressed by Sheriff Joe.

So you got a mixed outcome from it all, IMHO.

On the one hand, it's been fun to watch as the birthers once again thought they'd won, only to find out otherwise like they do.

On the other hand, I think there are more birthers today than there were when I took my break 2½ weeks ago. I honestly don't know what to do about that, but I'm here recommitted to fighting the madness in any way I can.

I'm an agnostic on a mission from God. On the bright side, not actually believing in a god simplifies the reporting requirements from my mission right down to the bone, so I got that goin' for me. \:D/

They did this to me before, when I became an MCSE. You have to pass 6 tests. First 5, no problem, passed them easily. I knew the study materials backwards and forwards. But you're connected to Redmond when you take the test. On the sixth and final test [IIS, if you don't know what that means lucky you], they knew it was my last test. They put in a lot of questions that weren't in the study materials. Bastids. Those tests cost $100 each to take; the one I took today was $150. So anyway, I memorized the questions that weren't in the study materials and googled it and I found some additional stuff on the Toobz, like error messages when trying to connect to an SQL database. Memorized those. Took the test a second time and missed it by one question. More questions that weren't in the study materials.

But I had to pass that test. Finally bought a book for $50 that had everything about IIS in it, and then I passed it easily. I swear to doG, they definitely ask you questions that aren't in the study materials so you'll have to pay to take it again.
