Geauga County Sheriff's spokesman John Hiscox confirmed there had been a shooting in the school, but would give no details shortly after 8 this morning.

A local official confirmed the number of students. Four ambulances, from Chardon, Kirtland, Burton and Chesterland, are waiting at the door of the high school at 8:15 a.m. Little information has been made available. Chardon police and sheriff's officials said the school was on lockdown. Parents are crowding just off school grounds.

The shooting happened in the cafeteria, according to a waiting parent, Jessica Bryant, whose daughter, Allison, a freshman who had seen it and texted her.

A city official said they don't know where the shooter is, and parents were being told at 8:21 that it might not be safe to remain near the school.

Edit: Video
Three students are reported to be in critical condition, one stable. Two persons are reported to have been arrested.

Last week, there was a "fight" in my son's middle school cafeteria when a kid being bullied (apparently for being overweight) by a group of other kids, snapped and went after one of the other kids, trying to choke him.

Kids can be mean and cruel and thoughtless all the way around.

I hope this turn out without anyone being killed,

A canine unit was involved in tracking down the suspect at some distance from the school. A teacher is said to have chased the suspect out of the building. There is now said to be only one shooter, a student. The number of students wounded is now said to be five. Victims were found in three separate places in the school.

This may be another instance of a loner striking out in pain, a person who was perhaps bullied and probably ostracized. It happens in the workplace as well as in the school.

This sounds very familiar:
Quote:
Mueller described the suspect as "a quiet kid. Freshman year he got into a 'Goth' phase and didn't talk to that many people anymore. He never egged anybody on. He just went about his business."

The gunman opened fire with a handgun just before 8 a.m. in the school cafeteria where students were eating breakfast, authorities and witnesses said.

The shooter [known to be a student at the school but as yet unidentified publicly] was chased out of the building by a teacher and later turned himself in to a passerby, authorities said.

How dare you suggest the goverment should get involved in gun ownership! Dosent the Konstitution say that a well regulated militia is essential for freedom?

Sorta
Offtopic :
Fred Phelps, Jr., a member of America's most hated family, announced that Westboro Baptist Church would picket the funeral of Daniel Parmertor to testify "regarding God's hand, judgments and vengeance in this affair.” A citizen made a Facebook post asking that others join him in creating a human barricade around the church where the funeral would be held. 1,600 agreed to join, and on the day of the funeral a TV station reported that thousands had joined the barricade. Phelps and his co-haters did not show up. They may never have planned to do so; the announcement may have been a hoax.

According to Wikipedia, when Dimitrius Hewlin's funeral was held at the same church, members of four motorcycle groups, including the Patriot Guard, showed up. WBC did not.

This is how people can beat the hatred of Westboro Baptist: show them who is stronger. The courts are not going to do it for us.

However, Westboro Baptist has been busy. They protested a Santorum rally and have offered to advertise on Limbaugh's show.

I have no doubt but that other Xtian crazies also saw their gawd's hand in the Chardon murders. WBC is like a small melanoma that seeks to metastasize throughout the American body politic.
