If it is the ear crystal imbalance problems like borealis mentioned, I posted some videos with some simple exercises to try at home at the link below. Might be worth a shot if the dizziness doesn't go away. If nothing else they will give your dogs something to laugh at. :D

Ear Crystal Imbalance Exercises

Thanks Major. I'll try them too. The maneuver is only a temporary fix, but should last several years. So I will also try these.

Ear Crystal Imbalance Exercises

I spent last week as a student nurse on the Rehab wing of our 350-bed regional medical center. The Physical Therapists on the wing perform these exercises on some of the patients, and the patients I spoke with said the exercises really work to decrease dizziness and nausea/vomiting.

Edit: grammar, punctuation, clarity

I hope they work for you. If they do, it's faster than going to PT and cheaper. I was surprised to learn that many cases of dizziness are caused by ear crystal imbalance so it's good to know there are some "home remedies" that look safe to try.

Does anybody know if there's an adapter I can use to play videos (like maddow show or something from hulu, etc.) from my laptop to a samsung smart tv?

I know if my laptop had an HDMI thing I could do it. But my laptop doesn't have one of those.

Is there some kind of adapter that exists? So maybe I can use a USB port or something?

I just googled hdmi usb adapter and a bunch of stuff came up, but... I can't tell what's useful and what's not. If no one else answers, I'll ask my son after work. He knows stuff like this.

The TV may already have a VGA input. If so, you just need a VGA cable.

Many newer laptops have DVI out. DVI is essentially a subset of HDMI, so you just need the right DVI-to-HDMI cable.

If neither of those are true, there are VGA to HDMI adapters, which are a little more expensive, but not prohibitive.

(I had a chance to visit B&H on my last trip to NYC. My God. Californians, picture two Fry's Electronicses, stacked on top of each other, staffed with people who actually know things.)

If you have the model of your TV and laptop, I can be more definitive.

Edit: Oh, you'll also need an audio cable unless you're OK with the sound only coming from your laptop.

Thank you.

I'm not sure if that's what I have. I'll find out or else get some model numbers with links.

I really appreciate the information.

You might want to look at some of the streaming video devices that are available like Rodu. If you have WIFI capability, you don't need a cable to connect your laptop to your TV. LM K mentioned a post she has a Rodu so she might have some better hints, suggestions etc. I recently bought a Rodu, but I haven't set it up yet. I have a couple of things to do with my computer and TV first before I'm ready.

Here's some different streaming video devices: Streaming Video Devices

Here's Information on Rodu devices including "how-to" set it up: Rodu

FIFY.

I have a Roku on my bedroom TV, and it's great for Netflix and Pandora there. I don't watch Hulu on it, but it's on the Roku channel list.

Roku means "six" in Japanese, btw. Don't know what it relates to, but that's why they chose the name.

The tv is supposed to show stuff from the internet. I do have wireless (finally). But when we finally figured out how to access the on-screen keyboard thing, and get to hulu, it wouldn't play. So I went to Youtube. It shows a video, but takes forever to load it. And that on-screen keyboard is crappy. You hit the 2 key thee times for a "C" and the 3 key twice for an "E" or something like that. It takes forever.

You can buy a special remote with a QUERTY keyboard on one side for another $100, and I would, if I was happy with the service. But so far, a big disappointment.

So then we plugged in another laptop that does have an HDMI thing in it. That works great. I can load any of the hulu shows or youtubes and they played great. I didn't go to msnbc, but I assume it would work as well.

But my own laptop doesn't have an HDMI thing. I have a toshiba satellite L675. It has a wider screen, which is great if I'm watching something on the laptop, but the battery runs down very fast.

I don't watch much tv, and I don't know when anything is broadcast anyway, which is why I generally watch the stuff online anyway.

I'm going to look into these adapters. I think that would be the best for me. :D

For some reason, I always want to spell Roku -- Rodu. It's like I have a mental block about it. I like the bit of trivial. :D

I'm looking for an old printout today (for something important) but having no luck. I DID however find this old printout, which was a written account of a quarrel that I had ordered my two sons to give me so I wouldn't have to listen to them bellowing at me about the whole big hooraw. This was 14-year-old Aaron's account of it.

Later that day, Aaron left the page on the kitchen counter and the third (and oldest) brother came along and graded it, just because.

I couldn't resist sharing it, mostly because of the communists and the fisticuffs.

(Man, I post a lot in this thread. I should try more gingko for focus or something.)

Thanks, Sue. I think I'm going to carry the laptop to Best Buy or CompUSA or someplace and have them give me an adapter. I didn't know such animals existed until today. :D I'm still not sure what I'd need, but now that I know something is out there, I am going to find it. :-bd
