You know I am trying to figure out exactly what “Evil Genius” Fred Newman’s plan was in the 1960s from reading
Trowbridge. This is what I have been able to decipher.
Newman: I see a future in which a Black man is a President and he will be able to destroy America.
KGB Agent: Da, of course! This thought is one that is completely natural for that of the early 1960s.
Newman: And I see how he must be protected by screaming the charge of racist at his truthful opponents.
KGB Agent: Genius, Comrade Newman. It’s not like actual racists are elected on openly racist platforms at this time, making your plan extremely strange.
Newman: And I predict that those who really question my fake Black President with his aims to destroy America, will only be able to gather through a telecommunications revolution that the son of Albert Gore will invent. They will use their own personal vacuum tube powered, 1 ton computer to communicate teletype messages of patriotism and other things relating to coups by the military.
KGB Agent: Naturally, they will be forced to do this, because we will get to everyone else.
Newman: However, this form of mass communication, where whining by teletype about how the country has been stolen and the constitution shredded, is far more deadly to us than if the media wasn’t already in our pocket.
KGB Agent: You’d think that we’d just shut down this network of personal computers than risk exposure or have the son of Albert Gore not invent it.
Newman: But I have a better idea. I propose that we invent something that I will call “trolling.”
KGB Agent: Go on.
Newman: Where ever the patriot’s teletype messages will be gathered, a paid “troll” will bombard them with numerous false messages by numerous pseudonyms.
KGB Agent: Interesting. It is a shame we would have to pay for these trolls using Taxpayer money, rather than just do the socialist thing of enriching ourselves, but who actually votes for a democrat candidate anyways?
Newman: Dead people. That’s about it.
KGB Agent: But these messages, I assume they threaten the patriots with mass deportations, concentration camps, and similar KGB like tactics.
Newman: No, strangely those will be the Patriots’ own messages for us.
KGB Agent: Oh.
Newman: Instead, we will mock them. Call them conspiracy nuts. Point out how many people have to be in on the conspiracy.
KGB Agent: But millions are in on this conspiracy, patiently waiting for their false Messiah to come and for the next 50 years will do random and arbitrary things for this conspiracy for no conceivable payoff whatsoever.
Newman: Exactly. Our only weakness would be the Patriot’s ultimate weapon…
KGB Agent: What is that exactly?
Newman: “This conspiracy is even bigger than I thought.”
KGB Agent: [Shudders] Let that not come to pass. But what if they stop just messaging by teletype and organize a march on Washington to overthrow our illegal regime?
Newman: With three people?
