The Pentagon announced new rules last weekeasing the ban on women serving in combat. While conservatives like Rick Santorum are a little uneasy with the news, the announcement only formalizes military practices that were already taking place.

But Fox News contributor Liz Trotta’s commentary on the matter took the issue to a whole other level. She’s not really concerned about the “controversy” surrounding the Pentagon’s announcement. For Trotta, the issue is having “women once more, the feminist, going, wanting to be warriors and victims at the same time.” She cited a recent Pentagon report that violent sex crimes in the military have increased over the last 6 years and said women should “expect” it, decrying more levels of bureaucracy to support women who have been “raped too much“:

TROTTA: But while all of this is going on, just a few weeks ago, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta commented on a new Pentagon report on sexual abuse in the military. I think they have actually discovered there is a difference between men and women. And the sexual abuse report says that there has been, since 2006, a 64% increase in violent sexual assaults. Now, what did they expect? These people are in close contact, the whole airing of this issue has never been done by Congress, it’s strictly been a question of pressure from the feminist.

And the feminists have also directed them, really, to spend a lot of money. They have sexual counselors all over the place, victims’ advocates, sexual response coordinators. … So, you have this whole bureaucracy upon bureaucracy being built up with all kinds of levels of people to support women in the military who are now being raped too much.

To his credit, Fox host Eric Shawn tried to talk Trotta down a bit. “You certainly want the people fighting the war to be protected from anything that could be illegal,” he said. But Trotta wouldn’t have it. “Nice try Eric,” she said, “This whole question of women in the military has not been aired properly, and it’s the great sleeping giant.” Watch the clip via Media Matters:

Just to clarify, Trotta complained about government supporting women who have been “raped too much,” a statement seeming to imply that there is an acceptable amount of rape one can or should endure in order to prevent more layers of bureaucracy from swooping in to help out.

I could have lived my life without ever being aware of this revolting, vile hag's existence. As someone whose grandfather, grandmother and aunt served honorably in the armed forces, I spit on this pathetic excuse for a human. Usually, possession of a penis is a prerequisite to disgusting, sexist shit like this. Apparently, Trotta is a self-loathing woman. She can keep her hatred to herself.

These diseased lunatics continue to demonstrate why Republicans are completely unfit for any form of public life and should be ostracized and treated like the unpatriotic, despicable scum they are.

Damn. I guess it is possible for someone to be more outraged than I am by this.

It makes so happy to see that the first people to express their outrage about this"woman" and her comments are from our male Fogbow members. =D> =D> =D> =D>

If this were a birther blog, the comments would be a bunch of snickers and sick jokes. Or there might be comments like Rick Santorum's rich backer who supported Rick's view on contraceptives by saying that in his day, women used aspirin for contraceptives.

Now to be totally snarky, I looked at this woman's photo and if she's not an alcoholic or drug user, I'd be very surprised. For sure, she clearly lacks any sense of caring for her follow human beings. In other words, a modern day Republican -- not to be confused with the Republican party of old.

So, what does Vattel say?

http://books.google.be/books?id=ThfzGvS ... &q&f=false

Page 31. I suspect, however, that Vattel did not even consider the possibility that women soldiers would be raped by their comrades-in-arms.

On the next page, Jean-Jaques Rousseau seems to break ranks with Vattel and declare all rape "not necessary to the ends of war".

One would have thought that humanity has evolved beyond that now.

For the sake of clarity, the paragon of virtue on Fox News was not actually attempting to claim that female American service members should expect to be raped by the enemy. She was claiming that female American service members should expect to be raped by male American service members, and that the American military spends too much time and effort trying to keep that from happening.

I'm still trying to figure out what combination of mental pathologies could result in someone who is that fucked up and still functions in everyday life.

Becasue the primitive brain control the automatic functions of life, such as breathing? Her higher brain function sure as hell aren't working.

This is standard "blame the victim" bullshit. It is very common in families where incest has occurred.

It has been part of the sexist male repertoire about rape since ... forever. It has been said by judges in recent years, often in the form of "...you invited the rape by that dress..." or "...by walking on that sidewalk." Manitoba February 2011: "Rape victim 'inviting,' so no jail: Judge rules woman's clothes, conduct ease blame on attacker". Daily Mail "Rape? It's the fault of the victims, say 50% of women". This should not be a surprise: the fact that Western culture is still a male-dominated culture means that it is male-dominated in terms of what women are taught to think, believe, and do.

This is a very disturbing article on many levels. :(

CNN Health
Quote:

Rape victims say military labels them 'crazy' ...

A similar pattern

CNN has interviewed women in all branches of the armed forces, including the Coast Guard, who tell stories that follow a similar pattern -- a sexual assault, a command dismissive of the allegations and a psychiatric discharge. ...

The cost

A personality diagnosis discharge can carry a heavy financial burden.

In the military's eyes, a personality disorder diagnosis is a pre-existing condition and does not constitute a service-related disability. That means sexual assault victims with personality disorder discharges don't receive benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs to help with their trauma. They can still apply for benefits, but it's considered an uphill battle.

There are other costs. For example, members of the armed forces who receive a personality disorder discharge lose education benefits under the GI Bill.
