It's Kreep versus Peed in a battle between hilariously named judicial candidates

In a race guaranteed to produce snickering at the ballot box, Gary Kreep has filed paperwork to run against Deputy District Attorney Garland Peed for a seat on the San Diego Superior Court bench.

Kreep, who is based in Ramona, serves as the executive director of the United States Justice Foundation, an organization founded to "advance the conservative viewpoint in the judicial arena." Now, "conservative" might be a conservative way to describe Kreep's positions. He's also the volunteer general counsel to the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps and one of the main attorneys suing President Barack Obama on behalf of the "Birther" movement.

Kreep was the attorney for Personhood Nevada, an anti-abortion political organization that attempted to circulate a petition to prevent "discrimination against the unborn," according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. A judge threw out the petition in December because the language was too vague.

In 2009, Kreep launched DefendGlenn.com, a site dedicated to protecting then-FOX commentator Glenn Beck from boycotts and attacking activist Van Jones, ThinkProgress.org and others reported.

Kreep was the lead attorney in a lawsuit to invalidate same-sex marriage licenses and was part of the conservative legal team observing the Proposition 8 vote tally.

This scares me a bit, since quite frankly, NO ONE pays any attention to judicial elections.

Garland Peed is a veteran prosecutor in the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office with 27 years of experience solving and prosecuting our community’s most horrific crimes including murder, sexual assault, and gang crimes in San Diego’s Superior Court. He has held several key leadership positions in the fight for public safety and victims’ rights. Garland is seeking to utilize his extensive criminal justice experience to further serve our community as a Superior Court Judge.

Garland Peed received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his Juris Doctor Law degree from the University of San Diego Law School in 1981. Garland was appointed as a Deputy District Attorney in 1984. Garland has held posts as Chief or Assistant Chief of the Gang Division, the North County Branch and the Superior Court Division.

Garland currently serves as the Chief of the San Diego District Attorney’s Superior Court Division, the organization’s central felony prosecution unit where he leads and manages a large group of felony trial prosecutors, investigators, paralegals and support staff. As the Chief prosecutor for the Superior Court, Garland is called upon to make critical decisions regarding serious felony cases including the proper criminal charges, punishment and the rights of the victims in those cases.

I'm just curious how the h*** the race could even be that close? You have one candidate with 27 years experience as prosecutor, endorsements coming out his arse, and a "Well qualified" from the bar association, and a candidate with next to no experience, next to endorsements, an "Unqualified" from the bar association, and admittedly is running just for the hell of it.
