Washington (CNN) -- Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer was robbed last week by an intruder armed with a machete while Breyer was vacationing on the Caribbean island of Nevis, court officials said Monday.

Breyer, his wife and two other guests were in the justice's vacation home at the time, but officials said no one was hurt in the incident.

The male assailant took $1,000 in cash and fled the scene, according to court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg. The robbery was reported to local authorities shortly after it happened last Thursday night, and local media said no arrests had been made as of Monday.

It was unclear whether the intruder knew Breyer's professional identity.

In a statement, Justice Breyer said:
"The woman, a very light skinned Caribbean person with a strangely Russian accent, tried to attack me with a stack of large posterboards, sheaf of papers and was screeching about millions of dollars an frequent flier miles. only having a thousand dollars between us, I handed it to her and asked her to leave. She shoved the papers into my hands and said something that sounded like 'let me finish, You have been served'. She also mentioned something about frogs and marching. Maybe she was in the French Foriegn Legion. I'm just glad she went away. I still have no idea who it is, but she was screaming the name Soebarka, or something like that, as she ran off into the jungle. She drop, of all things, a false eyelash, tha we turned over to the local police for forensic investigation'

Come on, Orly couldn't have been robbing Justice Breyer at machete-point in the Caribbean at exactly the same time she was asking Newt Gingrich about Obama's Social Security number in Pasadena!

Or could she??

It's possible, after all Eric Holder did it from Cal to South Georgia.

Just a small knit: is it machete "point" or "edge"?

I think some of us rather enthusiastically took up the "knit-picking" malapropism from some recent birther filing or comment.

It's the sort of thing, with 'denined,' 'baned,' comma abuse, etc., that would make a newcomer think we're illiterate.

When your kids get head lice, you learn the real meaning of "nit picking". Nits are the eggs of lice, which are tightly glued near the base of hair shafts. I've spent many hours nit picking.

Luckily, none of my kids or grandkids have experienced that problem.

I did, however, learn everything (and more) I ever wanted to know about he subject (and more) while working on a product liability case brought against a manufacturer of a lice shampoo (IIRC) product. The assertion was that the product caused brain damage. The case settled, shortly after the young girl's death, for around $6.4mm, as I recall.

It was a NJ-based company that played hide the ball with all manner of document production and was a real sleazebag bunch.

It was from a Klayman posting where he was defending himself on the dead-beat dad allegation. It was not the writing of a literate person.

I guess we need an FAQ page to explain to newcomers why we seem illiterate. (I missed the Klayman origin of "knit-picking".)

I have to confess that now when I see "denied" spelled correctly, I give it a second glance to see what's wrong with it.

You know if this had been Clarence Thomas he would have said "I think there is a pubic hair on your machete."

No. Not too long ago, then-Justice Souter got mugged in D.C. while jogging. The U.S. Marshals protect federal judges, but it isn't 24/7 protection wherever they go.
