When I first read about Lakin preparing to refuse deployment, I felt pity for the man and believed he had been duped by the birthers. That changed after reading letters Lakin wrote to superiors (plus his congressional representation) requesting legal advice and their responses. Lakin was never interested in receiving sound legal advice. He was searching for confirmation of his political beliefs.

Lakin has earned any difficulties he encounters for his previous actions. I haven't felt any pity for him for some time now.
