You are putting your keywords in the box next to the "post this reply" button? The one marked "Search this topic"?

It may be in a different place if you are using a different forum display design than I am. But if this isn't what you are looking for, I'm not sure what else you mean by "quick'n'dirty"?

Dang! I'm glad I asked.

Thank you Verbie and Raicha. It's amazing (as in embarrassing) that I hadn't noticed that and figured it out by now. :geezer:

Thank you!

Can you weld? I have a buddy who was a facilities manager for a big pharma company near here for umpteen years.

Somebody gave him a metal sculpture for Christmas one year. He looked at it and said, "I can do that." So he quit his job.

He does fish, butterflies, frogs playing the mandolin. I have three pieces in my home.

Visit his website here.

Not really a feature suggestion, but relating to GA documents :

If I understand you, raicha ... I made it a "sticky". Stickies are "stuck" to the top of the first page of the forum in which they are posted, above every Normal topic. How close did I get?

(CBNC!)

I NEVER (well ... hardly ever) go in through the board index -- I always use "recent posts", so only "bumping" works for me.

Next up, if I vaguely remember the subject I do a title search.

Only if THAT fails (or if I'm not following up on something I remember) do I go through the index (where STICKY applies).

I don't know if there's a way to pin/sticky things to the top of recent posts. probably not.

ps I just noticed :
Most users ever online was 1055 between Thu 26. Jan 2012 and Fri 27. Jan 2012

That's exactly what I do, and in that order. I almost never go through the index, except to find where's the best place to start a new thread.

Not. Bumping is the only solution for View active topics. On the bright side, there's no rule against bumping a thread. The boogle has been astonishingly judicious in deciding whether and when to bump an old thread.

:D We picked up so many new members in the past couple weeks who have dived right in and made great contributions already. That part has been great. Hopefully, this will blossom into a snowball. I oughta start a thread for new members, so they know what we mean by "brunt toast" and "Chaleria" and other sort of inside terms, also too. A guide to Fogbow Foibles.

I also depend on the recent update list.

If the commenters in the document thread added new comments instead of updating previous posts, we could tell when new things are added.

I don't know if this has been suggested before, but I'd like to see a the quote function improved with a track back feature where you can click on the link and go back to the actual post being quoted.

I've seen that on other forums, and it's nice. But not a part of phpBB, sad to say, and definitely outside the range of my ability to tinker with the software. It's possible there's a modification that would do that, but I'm not installing any more mods unless they're 100% approved by the phpBB mod team. I'll keep an eye out.

There is a way to do it. Hit PM, go to PM and scarf up the quoted stuff with the URL, go back to the thread, hit reply, paste and post.

Hm? Why would the app need to be free?

There is no cost to the forum admin to install Tapatalk functionality; he or she just downloads the plug-in and activates it, free of charge. The forum is then listed in the Tapatalk directory and individual users can access the forum through the (paid) Tapatalk app. The only charge is to the end user for the app itself.

But what does it do?

Feature I'd like to see re-implemented on Fogbow:

The one where the snarky rooster comes along a couple of times a day with the snarkiest of rooster snark, to complement and accessorize and challenge the rest of our [lesser] non-rooster snark.

I liked that one.

phpbb is free. Free downloading of the application--> no registration or personal information required.

phpbb balks at 3rd party developers requiring a registration (account creation) to obtain the 3rd-party server-side application, even if the application is monetarily "free"

As Foogie has stated previously, he will not install 3rd party phpbb apps unless they have the blessing of the phpbb developers. At this time, Tapatalk does not.
