Thanks to my [expletive deleted] hosting company, OCT has been down all morning. It's not just me but every dedicated and private virtual server at DreamHost. OCT will be back up when it gets back up.

My guess is the thing next to the mike is an external speaker. Below that is a Kenwood TS-440S transceiver. The power supply is on the right. This was probably someone goofing around on Field Day. Just a guess. :lol:

Yes, we're back on the air. It was not DOS, it was a major screw up by the hosting company that rolled out something wrong to a server farm hosting a million domains. It took them a while to figure it out and then a longer while to fix it all.

Doc, check the character-encoding settings on your server, and you may also want to check the file types. I'm also seeing gibberish on Opera, IE9 and Firefox (Windows), although it looks fine on Safari.

When we had this problem, we had a mismatch between the encoding settings being put into the page by the CMS and those on our Apache server.

When I run a search on "wordpress text encoding problem," I'm finding that this is not an uncommon problem in changing to a new host, because of the text in the database already being encoded in some format from the old site.

Anyway, the fact that it shows in Safari and not in the others is the tell to me that it's a text encoding issue in the database. Especially because the entire HTML structure also has the problem on the non-Safari platforms.
