Quote:
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer traded words with President Obama after she greeted him at a Phoenix airport Wednesday.

Brewer and Obama "spoke intensely for a few minutes" after he landed at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, according to a White House pool report. At one point, the GOP governor shook her finger at the president.

Despicable woman. :x

I saw the still photo, and it looks bad. But jamil smith says he saw the video and it's not as bad as the still makes it seem.

He tweeted:

Quote:
Viewing the video of the @GovBrewer confrontation, it doesn't seem like it was that serious. Picture was taken at the perfect time. For her.

he used to be with the maddow show, and just moved over to melissa harris perry's show.

It's a badge of honor for any Repub to disrespect POTUS. Remember how Joe Wilson raised money after his "You Lie"?

True. But the entire exchange about her book, etc.... Sounds like it was nasty to me, then the finger wagging....

oh yeah, I know. I'm not defending her. I'm just saying it sounds like it's not as bad as she wants us to think.

She's after TeaBagger Cred.

It seems that Obama started the interaction by mentioning that he was displeased by how her book represented him in one of their meetings. Let's not be manipulated by a carefully positioned picture without knowing the context.

...and I heard that she came to him, handed him a formal letter asking to speak to him some time in the future about immigration and other issues, and she told him what was in the letter. Only then did he bring the book up, as to point out that past meetings had been misrepresented in her book. This was reported by witnesses on Rachel and The Last Word on MSNBC

If that has been since shown to be incorrect, I haven't seen it, but if so, my apologies. I was not just going on what the photo looked like. And I have to wonder - since when has this president been so petty as to walk up to another politician and start ragging on them about a personal afront. Not very likely, IMO.

I have to admit I don't care. If you display that kind of body language to the President, the next sound you should hear is the Secret Service cocking their rifles. And you should either back the fuck off or get the fuck out at that point.

That finger-wagging shit is not only disrespectful, it is dangerous, and there is nobody in the country who should be allowed to pull that shit, and most certainly, not some fucking practically a neo-Nazi from Arizona.

From the WH spox:

Quote:
A White House official, pressed to explain the encounter, had this to say: “The governor handed the president a letter and said she was inviting him to meet with her. The president said he’d be glad to meet with her again, but did note that after their last meeting, a cordial discussion in the Oval Office, the governor inaccurately described the meeting in her book.

Sorry, but who thinks that pic is good for Jan Brewer? She disrespected the President of the United States. As I wrote when I posted the pic at Obama Wins, the Secret Service probably all reached for their weapons. A shameful display. Juvenile. Amateurish.

I agree. I can't imagine the degree of brainlessness required to raise a hand to the president.

I've only seen the still picture. Where is the video?

The editors at the AZ Republic didn't like it. Seems like there's no video of it though, just the still pic.
Quote:
The image of Arizona's governor wagging a scolding finger at the visiting president on the tarmac at Phoenix International Sky Harbor Airport now pretty much defines this state's relationship with Washington, D.C., to the world. The image was beaming out worldwide before Wednesday's sunset.
....
But diplomatic protocol really does not give room for anger-venting tiffs on the tarmac. Especially with a president of the United States who is visiting your state. Especially in front of the world.

I read one review that said it sounded like it was written by a 10th grade dropout. I think she's proud to be a high school graduate.

I saw her in several tv interviews last night from different times of the day - each time changing her lies. The last round had her saying she felt "threatened" by the president. While standing next to the entire press corps, Airforce One, and the SS contingent. So threaty!

She is not a well woman.

2nd Mayor Says Obama ‘Wasn’t Tense At All’ During Brewer Encounter

Quote:
Out of the three officials who met President Obama on an airport tarmac near Phoenix earlier this week, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) is now the only one who has characterized the president as anything other than cordial.

In numerous TV and radio interviews since the meeting, Brewer has said the president was “tense to say the least” and took issue with a book she wrote last year. She said Obama walked away from her while she was in mid-sentence and even told one Phoenix television station she felt “a little bit threatened” by the encounter.

But Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, who was standing just feet away from the president and the governor on Wednesday during their now-infamous encounter, told TPM that Obama seemed calm the whole time.

“He wasn’t tense at all,” Stanton said on Friday. “The guy’s a pro.”

Listen, you shriveled up, ill-educated hag. No one wags their boney finger at the President of these here United States (exceptin' FLO) and suffers no repercussions. You'd better keep looking over your polyester shoulder pads, you over-peroxided, wrinkled shrew, you.

Arizona candidate appeals English ability court decision
Quote:
PHOENIX (Reuters) - A woman barred from seeking elected office in an Arizona border town by a judge who ruled she did not have a sufficient grasp of English has decided to fight the controversial ruling, and filed an appeal on Friday, her lawyer said.

A Yuma County judge disqualified Alejandrina Cabrera, a U.S. citizen born in Yuma, from running for a seat on the city council in the town of San Luis this week for what he called a "large gap" between her English proficiency and that required to serve on the council.

Sure glad one of our best Obots got herself outta there.

He sounds like a relic of what I'd thought a bygone era, when some judges would change their black robes for white when they left the courthouse.

How did he know that the rest of the city council didn't exhibit a "large gap" between their Spanish proficiency and that required to serve with a Latina colleague?
