Yeh I know :) Just one of those fantasies I guess, certainly wouldn't want to see us lowered to their level. Frankly it makes anyone who says it publicly sound like uneducated children.

Anyone recognise the uniform he's wearing? - he's got two stars on it.

IMO this also points to the conclusion that the letter was sent after the hearing.

He must have written the letter after the hearing because he complains about sanctioning a senior citizen. That happened at the hearing.

OMMV, of course.

From the J.A.I.L. (4 Judges) by-laws:
Quote:
The JAILer-In-Chief (JIC) is the Chief Executive Officer within his state Chapter. His insignia may be publicly demonstrated by the wearing of two stars of a Major General. He shall have the authority to appoint and remove all leaders within his state Chapter, to declare vacancies, and to fill such vacancies at his discretion. He shall seek appointments of Associate JAILers-In-Chief throughout the state, and Wardens over each and every county. He shall attend to his responsibility of faithfully managing the advancement of J.A.I.L. in all matters of his Chapter.

The picture (and title) are from the Alabama chapter of J.A.I.L.; Sorensen was (is?) the head of the state chapter.

So "Major General" references his rank in J.A.I.L. Not actual U.S. military.

Some Major General he is. At his second face-to-face battle he says he is sick, he needs to sit down and that all he wants to do is go home and go to bed.

J.A.I.L. certainly outflanked the legal system this time.

But he must have been in the military sometime. His letter says:

Quote:
“Forty nine years ago I took an Oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution and I still hold to that Oath today.

Sorensen was a senior citizen before the hearing. Also.

Hopefully Bamalaw can inquire and find out exactly when Sorensen sent this letter.

People other than military service members also take such an oath.

His reference to being retired "military/DoD" makes me think he might have been a civilian employee of the DoD.

It takes a special kind of delusional to appoint yourself "major general" of anything.

Fleet Admiral Ragsdale reported that the letter was faxed to Chairman Kennedy well after the hearing. Whether merely sending the letter is enough to cause the Alabama Democratic Party to re-think it's position on sanctions is the subject of some discussion.

I trust Fleet Admiral Ragsdale's judgment. :D Thank him for the clarification about the letter.

My understanding is that a fleet admiral wears three stars on his collar, and therefore outranks a major general by one star.

Personally, I'd suggest a very brief reply by return fax:

Quote:
Dear "Major General" Sorensen:

Go the fuck to bed.

Respectfully yours...

Based on his age, he was mostly likely a draftee, much the same way Elvis was a draftee. I had found some info a while back that he worked for AAFES -- think the folks who run the Base or Post Exchange, on-base military store. I tried to find the site again, but couldn't.

haha, mike! I heard the audio for that book.

Also...

I'm not a facebooker. I don't know if you have to be a 'friend' to read a wall. But, I do know that if a person was military, they usually put something on their front page thing.

http://www.facebook.com/people/Harold-S ... 0248297302

I'm guessing that's our Harold, cuz his interests include Obly, as well as things local to him. But no branch of the military is listed.

Back in 2009 Sorensen sent an email to all AL state reps filled with "tenther" points One responded with one line:

Quote:
Yea go fuck yourself

He seems to have that effect on people!

THAT was where I saw Harold's closest on-going connection to the military (other than his 2 years as a draftee) was stocking the shelves of the local PX/BX.
