This is much like the story of Henry Ford's
Dearborn Independent. It published a long, vile series of articles that was later compiled into
THE INTERNATIONAL JEW: THE WORLD'S FOREMOST PROBLEM. It was circulated through Ford dealerships, not on the streets of Dearborn, and may have reached a circulation of 700,000.
Ford denied writing the articles (which may have been true) and denied knowing about what appeared in the
Dearborn Independent (probably a lie). His political views coincided well with what appeared in the rag: he blamed "financiers" for WW I and was a member of America First -- trying to keep the U.S. out of WW II -- until he was expelled for his too-radical views. His work was republished in Germany to great acclaim.
Ford is more remembered for having invented the automobile (which was false; he only invented a form of the assembly line). Some remember the skill with which Ford converted his plants into manufacturers of weapons of war, including the vast number of aircraft produced at the Willow Run Airport. That achievement might have saved him from being tried for treason.
His work is still available on the Web and can be read by malleable kids, conspiracy freaks, and people who need to blame their failures on other people.
Paul's newsletter is not new to the field; it also has been well-known. What is not clear is what was not clear about Ford: how much did he know, when did he know it, and what did he do when he found out? There is another question: how much has his thinking changed? There is good reason to believe that Ford's thinking never changed: he was proud of the Grand Cross of the German Eagle that Hitler awarded him. It is said that the award remained on his office wall throughout the war.
Both Ford and GM were investigated for pro-Nazi activities and beliefs
