1. Do you have a screenshot?
2. Did WND acknowledge the infringement of the photograph by blaming it on its ex Parliamentary investigator?

To answer the second question, no. They simply scrubbed the photo and its description. No editorial note was left.

To answer the first:

I note that WND, contrary to proper journalistic practice, also fails to give a photo credit for the photo it stole.

How long was it up for, Loren, before you revealed WND and Corsi's theft?

The article went up December 19 at 9:38 pm.

I published my blog post at about 8:15 am on December 22.

On the other hand, it's not as if anyone of any import holds WND to any real journalistic standards. Blatant plagiarism, in the journalistic world, means immediate firings, ruined careers, and near-permanent blots on the reputation of the publication. But that's in a world where a general audience expects honesty -- and even a smidgen of truth -- from their morning paper.

Meanwhile, in Slimy Yellow Smearland, nobody expects anything BUT lies from WND. As smears go, it's probably worn as a badge of honor that they were able to find smear material published by someone else first, to copy. It gives the smear greater weight... greater weight, anyway, than the usual lies that are just made up out of whole cloth.

A borrowed lie is just as good, if not better. They're just doing their job, and a damn fine job, too! And if they have to plead incompetence from time to time, to excuse the fact that their reporting bears so little resemblance to real events, well, fine. It only hurts a little to tell the truth when the occasion demands.

Except this time, Corsi gave those details. If they publish a name now, it has to be the name of a former Parliament member. Someone from a relatively small group of people. Someone who other news agencies can call and ask for a response. Did you write this report? Have you been working with Corsi since 2008? What other stories did you help with? It's someone who has a reputation to protect. It's someone who, if named by WND and who *isn't* their phantom researcher, is liable to sue WND for defamation.

Not to mention, either sue WND here in the United States, with an American lawyer, or sue WND there in Kenya, under a very plaintiff-friendly common law regime derived from Kenya's time in the Commonwealth. I don't know the exact details, but regardless of its origin, Kenya's own Defamation Act seems pretty robust, too, no matter how it is interpreted.

Why not have the London Evening Standard just sue WND and Corsi in the U.K. Why, our very own Shrek would go to the hearings for us and report. And when WND and Corsi got their asses handed to them, the next thing that would be handed to them would be the Standard's attorney's bill for legal services.

Why does the WH give these proven frauds of journalism a seat at the daily press briefings? I mean, sure, Les and his questions can make for great comedy, but why offer cred to the WND superstore of crap books and related junk?

A correspondent from TFB would be more journalistic than the WND propaganda and marketing sham artists.

Hey, there's an idea! 8-)

I think the US has much friendlier copyright laws. They should sue them for copyright in the US. Then sue them for libel in the UK. And then, if their "Kenyan investigators" exist, they can sue them for libel in Kenya.

And from the looks of it, they got zotted for...being me? I think? The moderator doesn't say exactly.

Oh, and look at the treatment I'm getting. Apparently, I'm "an effeminate male," a "self-admitted progressive and Obamaphile," and "a liar and propagandist." Such mature people at FR. Even the poster who got banned for being me kept calling me a "she."

The fee-shifting provisions of American copyright law make this a real possibility, and by "real," I mean that the thought of one of Corsi's victims filing suit over this literally makes me drool. And by "literally," I don't mean the new and annoying meaning of "figuratively," I mean that I salivate.

Any deposition of Corsi should, of course, be videotaped . . .

Hmmm...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerome_Cor ... plagiarism

Shouldn't that be 'Accusations of plagiarism' now? If only someone were able to add information to Wikipedia...

Needs more secondary sources. Wikipedia doesn't do "original research."

Wikipedia has a reliable sources policy. (This frustrates birthers to no end, who complain when their fact-free edits are undone.) I'm not sure if any of the sources that picked up the story thus far are sufficiently reliable.

Hey, PolitiFact actually has a whole page indexing claims made about Obama's birth certificate.

http://www.politifact.com/subjects/obam ... rtificate/

Out of the 21 stories indexed, there are:
- 13 statements rated 'Pants on Fire'
- 6 rated 'False'
- 1 rated 'Mostly True' ("Republican candidate for Georgia governor "dabbled" in birther conspiracy theories.")
- and just 1 rated 'True'

Guess who has the single, solitary "True"? :)

That's cool that you rated your own PolitiFact page, Loren. 8-) And of course everything you say is 100% true. :D
