Well it's that time of the year again. One of the catagories is, "Meritorious Achievement in The Crazy".

Which one of the cast of characters shall we nominate for the prestigious reward? Orly? Cordwood? Terry Lakin?

It seems unfair to the other crazies of the world that the birfers turn in such award-winning performances every single year.

All of the above.

Seriously. In the past 12 months, we've had the Cordwood's antics, Huff's dildo, the spectacularly ill-timed release of Corsi's spectacularly ill-titled book, the Combover's entry into the world of birthing, Orly managing to loose something like 1200 separate cases, the New Hampshire debacle. AND THE ELECTION WAS THREE FUCKING YEARS AGO.

Not Orly. She'd enjoy it too much. To her any attention is good attention.

"meritorious achievement in the crazy" ... hands down, i'd have to go with the birfer caucus of the nh state legislature.

elected officials throwing a tantrum over a dead, moronic issue. and video seals the deal. nuff said.

Wow! This is an extremely rich field and hard to settle on just one. Let's see:

Mario Apuzzo
Leo D'nofrio
Berg
Lakin
Huff
Cordwood
The Donald
Haskins

I have to go with Lakin blowing his 2 MILLION DOLLAR retirement, career, and reputation (pled GUILTY to several charges). Getting a couple of months in the Midwest facility - so far the only birther that has been sent to a "real prison". CommodeDoor Fitzfundfilcher has spend more time behind bars, but that is county time, not a real "pound thee in the ass" prison.

There is always Darren and his other brother Darren in the hoosegow. Doesn't look too good for Dustbin.

Admiral Fitzfundfilcher had some good competition this year but his crazy behavior for all 12 months can't be topped. This dumbfuck could have walked out of the courthouse without any time served if he had only STFU and counted to 100. Getting caught on video stealing county property from the courthouse only hours after being released from jail should eliminate all other nominees. Fitzfundfilcher worked hard for this award and he deserves it.

Mr Lakin deserves an honorable mention for soliticing advice from those who understand military law and then ignoring what those same folks told him. Lakin's problems were compounded when he hired Paul Rolf Jensen (aka Dogbite) and the only bite wounds Lakin suffered were self inflicted.

I see the top three as O'rly, Cordwood and Lakin. O'rly wins hands down on passion and perseverance, but lacks in the amount of skin she's actually put on the line and lost. Lakin wins for paying the highest price, but passion isn't exactly a word I'd associate with him. Cordwood has paid a pretty high price for his birfin' compounded by an unexpected degree of stupidity and doggedness, but he's somewhere between O'rly and Lakin in the passion department.

Tough choices ;)

I'm against Orly winning anything because it would spoil her unblemished record of total failure.

Everything Lakin did to screw himself, he did in 2010. And the court-martial was in December.

I can't think of anything he did in 2011 to even hold a candle to Admiral Filcher.

If Time's Person of the Year can be "The Protester" then the Golden Duke should go to "The Birther."

They are all pretty much interchangeably nutty in their own way. There are others such as Vallaly (sp) who are raving nut cases with money (paid for by the US Government. A retired Major General has a pretty good pension to spend on the Birferpalooza.

Yeah, but as far as I know Vallely didn't even bother to show up for the Washington Monument Epic Fail a couple weeks back, even though he was one of the headliners.

I think Vallely's been getting the cold shoulder from virtually every retired military officer in this great nation, as he surely should be.

He wasn't there since he was detailed to be at the National Command Center in the back of Joe's Bar and Grill. Someone had to hold down the fort and play Alex Haig when the government fell that day. =)) =)) =))

Foggy,

As far as the General goes, everyone in the service knows people like Singlaub (sp) and North that have violated the trust of the American People. Contrary to what some folks think, the Military is not a simpleton mindless machine. While conservative by the very nature of the discipline, only a very few folks drink the KKK-KoolAid. Misogynists big time, but that has been getting better.

Yes, I know that. I'm from a military fambly myself. I don't have the slightest doubt that Vallely and the other military birthers get the cold shoulder from the vast, vast, vast majority of our military and our veterans. I saw what the real military thought of Lakin, and what they think of Fitzpatrick.

Our military has a long and proud tradition of not interfering with politics, a record that spans more than 200 years. That's just one of the things that sets us apart from other countries, but it's an important one.

Vallely dumped the birfers for a speech event of his own elsewhere.

This. Seriously.

It has been 50 years since Barack Hussein Obama was born in a Honolulu hospital. It's been three years since he was elected President. We are still fighting multiple wars. The economy is still a shambles. The Tea Party has flared up and begun to fade. Despite all this, for one group of right wing activists, the most important issue facing the nation is proving that Obama is not American enough to be President.

Singling out any one of these Great Americans as the most insane is a hopeless - and pointless - task. It's like trying to pick out the wettest part of the Pacific Ocean. The manifestations of the crazy may vary - from publishing a book titled "Where's the Birth Certificate" several weeks after the release of the birth certificate makes national news, to declaring pride that the President has referred to you publicly as a carnival barker, to a group of state legislators screaming 'treason' at their own state election officials, to a lunatic Moldavian dentist/real estate agent/swimsuit model/lawyer with an amazingly masochistic penchant for filing incomprehensibly frivolous lawsuits all over the nation - but the magnitude of the nutz is always stunning.

Gingrinch, the mean ole elf, has been too clever to give full-throat to birtherism, but he was deviously applying the 'not American enough' meme when he echoed Dinesh D'Souza remarks about having a Kenyan anti-colonialist attitude (mau mau) that he got from his father. I fully expect more of this kind of thing the closer we get to election, especially if the Grinch is the nominee.

I said from the very beginning that this movement is different from the other conspiracy theory movements. Less popular than the 911 troofers, but much more virulent. That's how I got sucked into the vortex, when I hardly paid no never mind to those troofer fellers.

I think that the reason that the birthers are more virulent is that they are a kind of anti-cult-of-personality. The 9/11 truthers may be implying far more horrible things about President Bush and Dick the War Criminal, but it isn't personal for most truthers, where we all know that most birthers are unable to refer to President Obama by his correct name and FSM forbid they use his title! Truthers are just garden-variety conspiracy theorists (who know enough to stay away from accusing specific people of specific crimes), while the unifying meme of birtherstan is hatred of and bigotry against a single person.
