If he was transferred to the Feds, his county jail status should say something like "transferred to other agency", not "bonded out".

The BOP Inmate Locator does not reflect that Huff is in federal custody. Of course, it is often a few days late.

Exactly. Huff was remanded when he was convicted by the federal court. To get out of federal custody, the judge would have to grant bail pending sentencing. There's no indication that has happened.

There are many possible explanations for the VINE report. And no one is birthistan is reporting Huff's alleged release.

He may have an order not to be in contact with criminals while he is released. That would be very likely.

He also may be listening to advice of counsel to be quiet as a church mouse pending sentencing. Any further stupidity out of him will tend to imply he is likely to be a repeat offender.

Until PACER shows the judge granted Huff bail pending sentencing, I will assume court minutes indicating he was remanded still applies.

I read somewhere that the Irwin County Detention Center (where Huff is per facebook) was used a lot for holding illegal immigrants. I also read that people get sent there before they get sent to federal prison. They may stay for weeks or months before being sent to a federal facility.

idunno if this is true. i read it on some forums that were unrelated to Huff.

As far as I know, they don't have inmate information online.

According to the facebook group, immediately after the trial Huff was sent to the Blount County Adult Detention Center.

On November 2, it reported Huff was transferred to the Irwin County Detention Center.

Yesterday's report says, "I so hope and pray that an appeal can be done to get him out before sentencing."

An appeal bond perhaps, but no appeal could be heard prior to February 29, 2012.

Going through the motions. I think the lawyer is pretty certain Huff will file for PCR based on IAC, and wants to make sure he loses on that.

Darren Huff still doesn't show up on the federal inmate locator I don't know if they're more sluggish about adding people when they're subcontracted out to a state facility. I have seen people on the inmate locator who were in detention prior to sentencing, however. Do we have any solid information on his whereabouts? If not, perhaps one of us should call the facility he is supposedly at to confirm his presence there.

I noticed they had an email address. Since there's no real rush, I'll see if they respond. If they don't by Monday and the information still hasn't shown up on the BOP site, I'll give a call.
