My dad came up with the idea of the "koran Puffie" after Pastor Terry Jones’s burn a Koran day on 9-11-2010.

According to the FBI he field tested a small quantity of "koran Puffies".

Since then, He has had his house raided by the USPS, FBI, and several other agencies (October 6, 2010).
Had his computers and other materials taken. Has been in several jails, spent 4 months getting psyco testing at the FMC in Butner, NC (he passed OK), has had his Social Security suspended (his families major financial support -He will be 73 years old on Nov. 9, 2011, and is now facing felony charges in Federal Court -case 10-CR-412-VEH-JEO-2. If convicted, he will probably spend the rest of his life in prison and his totally disabled wife of 34 years will probably also die because she will no longer have his Social Security.

Note: He is using as part of his defense the fact that he cannot be put on trial if we don’t have a legal Chief Executive (President) of the USA.

"A 71-year-old Madison County man was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday on charges of mailing hoax anthrax letters to the Alabama Republican Party's Homewood office in September, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance.

Toney resident Donald Perry Parks was also charged with mailing hoax anthrax letters to the Center for Responsive Politics in Washington, D.C., and the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company in Omaha, Neb.

Each envelope included a typewritten note describing the mailing as a "Koran Puffie," according to the statement issued by Vance's spokeswoman Peggy Sanford.

A Google search of the term "Koran Puffie" leads to several posts by a man identified as Don Parks on a website called ResistNet.com, which dubs itself the "Home of the Patriotic Resistance.""

Alas, I forgot my PACER login info, so I couldn't look up case 10-CR-412-VEH-JEO-2 I would suspect it would be in the Alabama Federal Courts though.

So I found this comment at World Nut Daily

So let me get the Weird Nut Daily reasoning on this. A criminal committed a crime, but the criminal is an old white guy, so we are supposed to be outraged that the criminal is being criminally prosecuted for the crime, which also happens to be an act of terrorism.

Color me unimpressed.

Did you read about the four old white guys in north Georgia who were planning to attack the Atlanta IRS building (just a couple of blocks from my office!), and then spew ricin gas into the air as they drove up the expressway, to poison the city of Atlanta? Y'know, textbook terrorism?

I dropped by FreeRepublic to see the reaction to that. It wasn't positive, to be fair, but it was a far FAR cry from the reaction that such a plot would have gotten if the four guys had been less old and white. In fact, the general tone was one of 'Innocent til proven guilty.'

Loren, are you talking about the big IRS Service Center on Buford Highway, or one of the smaller offices in Atlanta? My first job during high school was at the the Buford Highway facility.

Nah, the Summit Building in downtown Atlanta, near Centennial Park and the Georgia Aquarium. Practically sits on top of the Civic Center MARTA station.

That one was my second thought. If those old boys had been successful, it would've made a bigger impression because of its location downtown even though it's a smaller office. Also, unless everything's changed over the years, they wouldn't have been able to set foot onto the Buford Highway premises without a photo ID. There used to be gates with guards and guns and a big fence.

For those who are PACER-challenged, does the docket in this case reflect a motion to dismiss?

Until there's a bonefied motion to dismiss (based on birthing)/present an affirmative defense (of birthing)/discover Obama's records, I don't think it counts as a birther case.

But try not to dig too deep in the logic of wingnuts, they see conspiracy everywhere because people on the radio tell them it is so.

BIRMINGHAM – A federal grand jury today indicted a Madison County man for mailing hoax anthrax letters in September to political offices in Homewood and Washington, D.C., and to an insurance office in Nebraska, announced U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance and U.S. Postal Inspector Frank Dyer.

In a three-count indictment filed in U.S. District Court, the grand jury charges DONALD PERRY PARKS, 71, of Toney, with mailing letters containing a powdery substance to the Alabama Republican Party office in Homewood, the Center for Responsive Politics in Washington, D.C., and the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company in Omaha, Neb. Each envelope included a typewritten note referring to the mailing as a “Koran Puffie,” according to court records.

Testing of the substance found in all three letters was negative for the presence of anthrax, or any other biological hazard.

“Mailing threatening letters is a serious matter that is subject to prosecution,” Vance said. “When people receive or handle these letters that contain powder, they are put in fear for their lives or their health, and the emergency response to each letter costs taxpayers thousands of dollars,” she said.

The maximum sentence for each count of sending hoax anthrax letters is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each mailing.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the FBI investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael W. Whisonant is prosecuting it.

Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove a defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.

Oh sure, someone on SSDI (disability insurance) who, despite being "permanently disabled", takes a good-paying job, then he/she could get SS payments suspended. Ditto if the disability was miraculously or non-miraculously cured. Ditto if there's clear indicia of fraud. And then there's the possibility that the recipient was getting benefits under a spouse's record but that spouse was "untimely divorced".

But the surest way of getting social security suspended (or terminated) is to take the once-in-a-lifetime option to die.
