But Misprison of a Felony is a crime in Birtherstan!

Maybe another candidate can be recruited to challenge Taitz; say Mevin Evans? His strategy:
Quote:
Mervin Evans the first black candidate to announce he is running for the United States Senate seat of Dianne Feinstein, has indicated that he thinks Senator Feinstein will retire from the Senate. Evans cited several key factors, the financial setback of being “Wiped Out by Kinde Durkee”, her age and health issues, I think this race will be wide open. I expect Orly Taitz-The Birther Lady, Mike Reagan-Son of the President, Gavin Newsom- Lt. Gov, Rabbi Shfiren- a Strong Pro-Isreal community leader, House Members David Drier, Tom McClintock, Darryl Issa and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa to be the major candidates in the race. I have to focus on getting the backing of the Black Community.

Yeah, but does Evans speak Spanish and Hebrew and have a Nigerian campaign manager named "Goodfriend?" Huh? Huh?!

Well, I certainly hope he runs so that Orly will get distracted once again in litigation to prove the black man is not eligible for office.

Via Taitz (all publicity is good publicity!); Fresno Bee: McEwen: Nunes had too much to lose by taking on Feinstein

Quote:
[Devin Nunes, a central valley congressional representative, has decided not to run against Feinstein.]

The Field Poll put Feinstein's approval rating at 41% -- the lowest of her Senate career -- and her campaign treasurer was arrested for fraud after more than $5 million was found missing. Toss in the fact that Feinstein turns 79 next year, and she appeared vulnerable.

But a telling thing happened when Republicans gathered for their annual state convention. No one immediately stepped up against Feinstein.

To date, the only announced Republican candidate is Orange County dentist Orly Taitz. She is best known for claiming that President Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States. Don't be surprised if Taitz demands to see Feinstein's birth certificate.

The reasons for GOP reticence are legion. Not only did Democrats take all of the statewide offices in 2010, but liberal Sen. Barbara Boxer handily defeated the media-savvy and well-financed Carly Fiorina. And Feinstein has restocked her election chest with her own money and campaign donations.

Well after all, Dallasite, she probably rates as a 2 out of 10 as far as being a dentist is concerned. As for her legal capabilities, I would say somewhere down in the negative numbers.

He was very nice on the phone and then we talked about Oklahoma’s recent earthquake and aftershocks. Anyway, I just wanted you to know I always call reporters up when they do an eligibility story and let them know that plain folks in places like Tulsa, don’t believe a word about Obama being a natural born citizen. I always get the feeling that they know it too.

Then I told him that I had called my senators and read that to them as well and they all said “good question” as well. I know I hung up he was going to think about what I had just read him and probabaly go and get the book and read it for himself.

True. But he spelled Feinstein's first name correctly.

This is the same guy from San Diego who sent her the postdated check. He seems a little "blur" (as we would say here).

Actually, as I understand it, because of California's new primary election process, it's the top two vote-getters (of any political party affiliation) who advance to the general election; and regardless of their declared party affiliation, California primary voters may now vote for any candidate they wish. So, the general election could be two candidates from the Democratic party, the Republican party, one of each, some third party, a couple of independents, or any combination/permutation thereof. It seems a pretty good bet to me that Feinstein will be one of the candidates in the general election, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that the other candidate will be a Republican.

If my understanding is incorrect, I hope one of our California folks will weigh in on this. 8-)

Paul - this will be our first open primary so we know as much about this as you do. But I think you are correct.

DiFi should get a majority of the vote, but it would be great (and awful) if Taitz were the GooPrer nominee. I am pretty sure the party elders will step in to spare the national party of that embarrassment.

But, you never know.

I wonder if Robert Dornan (aka Ramblin' Robert & B-1 Bob) is available. If not, there's always rent-a-candidate.

Well, Kelley, back in 1994, I had gotten a copy of my birth certificate in case I would need it for my wedding. It's been 17 years, and while I'm pretty sure that paper is still somewhere within my home, if I needed another copy, requesting it from my birth state would be infinitely faster than trying to actually find the thing. And I've stayed in the same house that entire 17 years. I think Obama's moved a few times, which can make finding something YEARS later even more difficult.

Also, we don't know if the certificate he was referring to in his book was one of the "commemorative" types that have the fancy scroll-work lettering and baby footprints, etc., or if it was an official, certified copy. If what he has was the commemorative certificate (which is what MOST people will have in their homes if they've not specifically requested a certified copy at any time,) then it wouldn't have been any use to him in this case.

In any event, there are clearly perfectly reasonable explanations for why someone who knew where a copy of their birth certificate was roughly 2 decades ago might not have it available right at hand now.

In addition to Feinstein and Taitz, six other candidates have filed with the FEC. Including the Christian submariner. And the republicans have months to offer up a credible token candidate.

Feinstein will undoubtedly come in first. So the only question is whether Taitz can beat these six (and counting) other people.
