Ellie was such a huge part of our online family even though most of us never physically met her. We're all sending warm thoughts and memories into the universe so her spirit can stay part of us. [-o< 8> :xo

At some point in January or February, my wife and her dad will head out to Arizona to go through Ellie's house in order to save some of the most important things from her life so they live on in ours.

I went through that process with my father's things only a few months ago. It was hard at first, but reliving the memories attached to each possession was healing. A big help was deciding which friend or charity would most appreciate the vast bulk of things we didn't keep. Just being able to finally do something towards closure is emotionally satisfying.

I hope that no one minds that I am posting this since I didn't know Ellie, but after reading all of your posts (which brought tears to roll silently down while trying to see how to type) I just couldn't leave here without offering my deepest Sympathy to all of you and her family.

She sounds like a remarkable woman and I regret that I never got to know her, even though it would have only been on the Internet.

God Bless

I was just over at NBC's place on a topic that I linked to from Twitter (via Mimi) there was a commenter there that I swear was our Ellie (Ellid) I caught myself thinking that she was posting again, then I remembered. Then I cried. Damn this sucks.

Ellie was so funny and clever. And clever and funny.

She mixed those things up in ways that went way beyond simple snarkoonery. She was so very quick.

I really should take the time to post my appreciation of all the funny, clever, and quick things FB'ers say here.

Ellie was here partly because of all of you who are still here.

No one should forget that, anymore than they could forget her. :D

I actually miss the way Ellie used to berate me cause I would never break up my posts into paragraphs. It used to piss me off at the time but now I miss being slapped on the wrist by her. I know strange. And yet agin I am crying. :((

Esrlier tonight I was searching for something over on PJ and ran across a little exchange between me and Ellie. I so miss her humor and wonderful grumpiness.

Likewise. After V-Day I'm going to get started on my memorial project. Until then I just don't have the time. Maybe by then I can think of her without choking up ...

I think her clever, funny, snarkoonery gave her some cover for how sentimental and loving she was. It came through whenever she wrote about the people and places in her life. I miss her.

I started to write more, and the words just fail.

Can you imagine ellie's outrage at today's events happening in AZ, in her beloved Southwest? I picture her in heaven wrapping her arms around that little 9 year old who died today.

Can you imagine how proud Ellie would have been that the person to give the blessing at the Arizona memorial service would be a member of the Native American Nation, I know she would have been so proud, and I know she would have been pleased. I also know that she would have been out there stomping the shit out of the RWNJs complaining about it. It would have been a thing of beauty. =D>

Found this today and it made me smile as well as making me think how much Ellie would have loved it and no doubt used it!

I have a need to learn something about the old west and I know Ellie Wyatt would have known where I should look to find it. I said out loud today, "Tell me where to look Ellie" and I had a sad.

I'm just following up to this thread because it should have traffic. Just because.

The other day in school, we were discussing cultural awareness in the nursing practice. Our textbook sort of stereotypes all Native American tribes into being a certain way when seeking healthcare. I just know ellie would have been furious about it! I miss her. :((

:(( Yeah, I was just thinking about her too, how she would have ferreted out all of Orly's financial shenanigans by now. :(( Her wicked smart, wry humor... And such a font of a wide variety of interesting information. She is so missed.

I think about Ellie almost every day simply because I have a cat named after her and I cannot call his name without thinking about her. (I know it is weird to name a male cat Ellie Wyatt but by the time I figured out he was a he, he was already responding to Ellie Wyatt). I will never forget how pleased Ellie was that I named my grumpy kitten after her. She took it as a badge of honor. I do not know if it means anything but my Ellie Wyatt does his level best to kill me every morning when I walk to the car to go to work, curling in and out of my legs in an attempt to trip me up. Perhaps our Ellie is trying to tell me something? Probably something to do with tidying up my grammar, she was always a stickler for that.

I have yet to have a cat that responds by name. I have had a couple that actually recognized their name and then deliberately ignored it, but not one that would respond to it on purpose. Every cat I have had save one (my current cat) responded to the sound of tapping on a can of food, though.

I have a new kitten who I named Pootle (after a character in a Children's television series call "The Flumps" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Flumps)
The kitten hated me to begin with and would not have anything to do with me. Recently though not only has he begun responding to his name (the cats all get treats when I get home at night so when I go outside and call their names for their sweeties they come running), but he has actually begun to let me touch him when I am feeding him dinner. The past couple of evenings when I open the door he has been right there at the door and actually yelling at me "give me my sweeties hoomin, where are my sweeties" it is really quite a transformation.

Hi all!

Sorry I haven't been back in a long time, but it's kind of a long story.....for another day.
For now, I just wanted to do a "drive by" to, once again, say "Thank You" to all of you for the kindness you have shown to everyone on this side of the computer. You all seem wonderful and I am happy to know ellie hung out with the cool crowd!

We are coming up on the anniversary of her passing. Now that's almost impossible to believe, isn't it? I promise to post again around the anniversary. You know, it's been 11 months since the accident. Damn, it has just flown by!

Anyway, things are going well here.....the kid has started kindergarten.....I recently started a new Executive Chef job in San Francisco.....my wife's business is thriving.....the bills are still being paid on time.....life is good.

Ta ta for now.....you guys rock!

Thanks for stopping back, Capt Trips. Search "Ellie" and you'll find us talking about her, in particular when birthers start talking about setting up funds and telling people they can deduct those donations. Ellie'd be all [-X and [-( . It's nice to hear your family's doing well.
