My local forum is run by a programmer. So anyway, we had all this drama going on, and Mr. Genius Programmer had a great idea.

He made an "author moderated" forum, in which you could do roughly what Loh describes in the first post in this thread: Anyone who started a thread in the "author moderated" forum could delete any post in the thread they started, even if the post was by someone else. You couldn't delete the whole thread, but you could delete all the posts but the first one, and you could edit the title and the text of that one.
Needless to say, that didn't do shit to reduce the amount of drama.

Drama queens can make drama out of
anything.
I had to use that forum myself, after my "Reports from the Tiny Republic of Birtherstan" thread got to be too much for the RWNJs. There was no limit on smileys on that forum.
So I'd put up a post on my thread about the loathsome birfers, and the next five posts would contain

x 1000. They were essentially vandalizing my thread so no one could follow along. So I started a "Reports from the Tiny Republic of Birtherstan" thread in the "author moderated" forum, and deleted abusive or off-topic posts.
Then I had to read in the other areas of that board for the next six months (until I finally quit that hellhole) about how I wasn't allowing "rational discussion on the merits" about the birthers and what a coward and a baby I was for not allowing them to vandalize my thread.
But I still thought that

x 1000 wasn't really "rational discussion on the merits". I can be stubborn like that.
Don't ask me to create an "author moderated" forum on Fogbow. I'm not a programmer and I have no idea how to do such a thing, and it would just cause more drama. The answer is no.
Anyway, I apologize again for yanking the whole thread yesterday, and it won't happen again. Somebody made a great suggestion how to handle such things, so now there's a "Foggy's Forum" that only Rhoda and I can see. The next time I decide to yank a thread, I'll put it in there, and then merge selected posts from it back into a visible forum so nothing important is lost. I make mistakes occasionally, and try not to repeat them.
