Is there likely to be any resolution re date soon?

My trial calendar for August/September isn't fixed yet, but is likely to be filled within the next week. It would be great to make one of these meets.

Would folks consider Seattle or Portland in Aug instead of LA? The weather in the PNW is amazing in the summer; pleasantly warm in during the day and refreshingly cool at night. WA and OR are gorgeous in the summer; we have water and greenery! It doesn't rain from July-Sept ( :-$ ), and both cities have tons to do in the summer. I have friends in Seattle that would allow us to take over their house. Both cities are easy to fly into and there is a number of TFB/PJ members along the Eugene, Salem, Portland and Seattle I-5 corridor. I imagine that GG would have an much easier time making it to WA or OR than LA if he can make it in Aug, but he is a pilot so I could be wrong (first time for everything!).

Sternie, I don't need to crash with you .... I need to crash with someone, but you can have boys weekend! :-*

Aug is excellent timing for me; I can visit anytime .... life of a teacher and all of that!

The left coast seems to get ignored sometimes with all the hoo-haw going on in Tennessee and Merry Land.

YESSSSSS.....Anywhere between Everett and Tualatin!

How about the bustling city of Vancouver USA (across the Columbia from Portland)?

Close to the Airport and Downtown Portland without being in the rat race.

I would be happy to volunteer to help - not in a position to lead, but would be quite available to assist. :-$

NEVER VOLUNTEER, but it can be fun...

There are also several Native American Hotel/Convention/Casino Centers in the I-5 Corridor. Tacoma WA has several (Muckleshoot, Nisqually, Squaxin (Shelton), Chehalis (Rochester) and Puyallup Tribes) facilities with a huge new one going up north of Vancouver USA in BattleGround/LaCenter.

Tacoma??? Sounds like a strange name for a town, but it can be fun.

Canada is 3 hours away give or take....

OMG the HUGE Okanagon FEMA camp is just a hop, skip, and a jump on the other side of the Cascades. We should have a Birfer convention in Spokane...That way we can just bus them all from the Secure Area at Fairchild Air Force Base/AKA Spokane Interntnl Civilian Airport to the camp in an orderly and proficient military manner.

Edit: In Seattle, you can hop the fast boat to Victoria, BC for the day or a weekend...

With all due respect to you guys in the Pacific Northwest, I think this one will be in the LA area. But you're welcome to plan one for a future date.

In the DC metro area, there is a tiny town called Tacoma Park. We used to call it Taccy Park. It used to be something of a funky little artists' town. I always wondered if it was named after the WA Tacoma.

Speaking of Tacoma, there was a huge controversy (some call it a war) that went on around that name and whether or not to give it to that snow-covered peak you can see there.

You start heading further north than Ptld/Vanc, you might as well be in Cali for my availability purposes.

August is good. It won't get too hot. (September and October are traditionally hotter.) We've also had a mild last 18 months because of a surprisingly persistent La Niña.

I can attest to that. I spent a few weeks one August in Newport Beach taking depositions. I really, really did not want to return to Houston (except I missed my fambly). My hotel window actually opened :o and the cool, crisp mornings and evenings were delightful. Plus it was hilarious to hear the Californians bitching about the "heat wave" of 85 during the day!

I was taught it was Tacky Park.

Yeah, you say Rainier, and I say Tahoma and then Tacoma and then BF Mountain....

Meanwhile, back in Los Angeles...

I've checked with my little bro/back-up caregiver  and he has firm and tentative travel plans for August. Thus, my available dates for August are 8/11 through 8/21 and 8/26 through 8/31, So I'd love it if the meet up could be squozed into one of those time frames. The dates between may be available, but I won't know for sure until mid July.

Again, keep in mind that I'd just be showing up sometime mid-day, staying overnight and bailing mid morning the next day, so If my dates don't work for the rest of youse, no harm, no foul. :((

I think in the future, it would be kinda cool to discuss this more thoroughly. AZ was done a while back. LA is 5 hours from Phoenix. Seriously ..... And LA is Aug?
