OMFG... that is where I had my first legal drink!!!!

I'm glad it was just a drink.

I called the place to see if they could accommodate us. Unfortunately they can't as of right now. They are shuttered. As of May 8th. If you don't mind staying in the FEMA trailers I suppose I could house a few of you. Who wants the trailer at the top?

I really can't get away for multiple days but, if one day included a loud, out-of-control lunch...I could prolly make that lunch. But I'd have to go home after. And yes, I'm talking about driving 400 miles to have lunch with you knuckleheads then driving 400 miles home after. I did it for the Jeopardy try-outs a few years ago, I can certainly do it to meet you folks IRL. Also, too, Malibu is a wee bit closer to moi than the rest of LA... ;;)

Just brain storming here...

So, NOLA didn't work out as originally scheduled, which is a pity. But, if we do a S. Cal. meetup, we might be able to pick up some of that Louisiana vibe as a consolation prize. It turns out that Mr. Good Authority is acquainted with this guy who leads the hottest Zydeco band in S. Cal. Someone Eppie knows came out and saw them open the Gator By The Bay festival in San Diego last weekend.

So, who knows, maybe this band might be able to schedule a little event that would coincide with the chosen weekend. It's a possibility - grist for the mill.

Awesome idea! I've been wanting to hear that band!

Hmm...Turns out that, if I'd just quit fretting and listen to a less insane relative, I actually could do an overnight to SoCal. I could be down there by late morning, then would have to bail after breakfast time the next morning...but I can do this. Is there a state park campground with electrical hook-ups near to hand? (C-PAP machine, y'know)

Also...I like Zydeco. Cajun punk, sorta, kinda.

Contact Stern. There are full hook-ups at FEMA Camp 17, but you might need a reservation.

PM was already sent. Let me pimp the camp by myself, please, Realist.

Can someone set up a poll as to when we should have this do in August? I am available the whole month. I would suggest Calabasas-Woodland Hills as HQ. I hope the Country Inn at Calabasas will be back up and running by then. If not, we can get a deal at the Woodland Hills Best Western, which is 3 miles away.

I have Poutine and LM K inside and Estiveo outside at my place, a few miles away.

We should also invite Tes.

I didn't know we'd drawn straws already. It appears, however, Poutine and LM K lost.

True, but I am paying them plenty. Poutine will be handling my wheel chair and LM K will be carrying the oxygen tank.

They actually were the first two to ask.

1. Absolutely Tes must be invited.
2. Really? Me @ Stern's wif LMK & Poutine? :-k Margaritas or s'mores?
3. LMk & Poutine lost? Absolutely!
4. Behold my Honda Element with Cabana App. (The body of water seen through the cab is Lake Tulloch)

Really, the front seats fold down into the back seats...instant bed! The cabana attachment extends the clamshell tailgate...and zips closed with screened windows!! The mooks I was camping with were sleeping on the ground in tents with air mattresses. I had a sun roof and a cross breeze.

I'm supposed to see Tes this coming Tuesday at a lawyer event. Will ask her to come to the meet-up in addition to anyone who wishes to email her!

Gotta do one in Portland or Seattle as it is close to that Okanagan FEMA Camp - the Huge one on the North Central Washington/Canada Border.

Would folks consider Seattle or Portland in Aug instead of LA? The weather in the PNW is amazing in the summer; pleasantly warm in during the day and refreshingly cool at night. WA and OR are gorgeous in the summer; we have water and greenery! It doesn't rain from July-Sept ( :-$ ), and both cities have tons to do in the summer. I have friends in Seattle that would allow us to take over their house. Both cities are easy to fly into and there is a number of TFB/PJ members along the Eugene, Salem, Portland and Seattle I-5 corridor. I imagine that GG would have an much easier time making it to WA or OR than LA if he can make it in Aug, but he is a pilot so I could be wrong (first time for everything!).

Sternie, I don't need to crash with you .... I need to crash with someone, but you can have boys weekend! :-*

Aug is excellent timing for me; I can visit anytime .... life of a teacher and all of that!
