I ask only because I broke my old, wood-burning, Moto-Razr a couple weeks ago. I loved that phone, even though my friends all laughed at me. People knew not to text me, or try to send me a photo, because I was telephonically retarded. That old phone saved me from so much...reality. I miss it.

I now has a Samsung Caliber. It professes to be smart. I think that it lies. It can at least give me a QWERTY keypad with a 90° twist, but...I really don't like it and it doesn't like me. It's not a big fan of teh Fogbow, either, but that might just be me...I'm still learning the telephonic interwebz thing. I hates me some reality.

So...what's yer phone?

I have a Blackberry Curve. I text a lot, and I couldn't imagine doing it without a real keyboard. That's why I stick with the Blackberry as opposed to an iPhone, because the iPhone is touchscreen. The Blackberry is terrible to use for Internet purposes though, as its much slower than the iPhone for web browsing.

Edit: Also, too. I have AT&T, whom I love. I know a few people who have AT&T and hate it because they have dropped calls, but I've only had one dropped call the entire seven years I've been with AT&T. They all have iPhones, so maybe that's the problem?

I have an HTC Android and I would gladly trade you for any phone ya got. I hate it. If i set it down too hard it calls the last person I dialed. I sometimes don't get my messages or voice mails for up to a week. The keypad is too tight, I can hardly ever use QAZ or PL, the keys on either edge of the keyboard. If I laugh while I'm talking on the phone, I either mute the call with my chin or hang up, with my cheek.

I also hate Sprint, our carrier. Today I tried to use 411 and it told me my plan doesn't include the service. Not true, but it wouldn't let me in. Dropped calls all the time, spotty reception at home, the list is endless.

Don't get one!

I do like that my phone is well protected from butt-dialing. But my old phone was too. Also.

I got butt-dialed by my Barbara-in-law via her iPhone a week or so ago. I'm looking forward to teasing her next time she and my Yeti-bro are down.

Me too although I'm with T-Mobile at least for now. My daughter works for them at least for now. I gather the merger is most doable because both companies use the same basic system (CIM cards, etc).

iPhone 4 on SingTel. No real complaints, other than SingTel periodically sending me unwanted SMSs pimping their world cup, EPL, or cricket channels on their subscription TV service.

Ditto on the Curve. I'm glad Estiveo started this thread cuz I needs to get a new phone. I was planning on getting another Blackberry Curve, for just the reasons you state. Anyone with kids of a certain age needs good texting capabilities because that's mostly how they communicate with everyone. But the dropped calls with ATT are annoying. I've had hundreds in those seven years, maybe thousands!

I should add that I don't often get dropped calls with T-Mobile. And they got all manner of phones. And BTW my daughter often tells me you're supposed to depower your phone, remove the battery for a minute and then replace every day or two. I rarely do, though.

I loved my moto-razr, but it died on me last summer, so I feel your pain.

I bit the bullet and got an iPhone 4. I've been lovin' it quite a bit. It is superior to the razr in so many ways.

I am usually behind the curve for hi-tec in my personal life, as I get my fill of super hi-tec in my job. But, my old phone broke, I didn't have an iPod or a digital camera, etc., etc. With the iPhone, I got it all in one package.

I still miss the flip form factor though.

I've not been told to take the battery out (sounds a bit extreme) but to turn the phone off every day or two to "reboot" it, like the computer it is. But I don't believe that has anything to do with dropped calls; that's a network issue. Once the merger is complete, you can look forward to the same!

I understand that if the merger doesn't go through that there's a deal where T-Mobile gets AT&T's customers/hardware or something like that. I don't got details or know how that could be/work. I'm hoping for that, though. But yeah, daughter insists remove battery. It's not difficult.

I don't know if this is a phone or service provider problem, but a couple of months ago my husband, who has the same one I do, pulled his phone out to make a call and it had been wiped clean. No numbers, no calendar, nuttin'. He was stunned - he uses the heck out of his phone. Pandora, sensitive info, everything, gone. He thought he'd accidentally done some kind of reset, but we couldn't figure out what he'd done. A couple of days later some of the info was back and within a week it had all been restored.

Sprint had no ideas for us, so we dropped it thinking no harm, really - but then it happened to mine, too, like three weeks ago. My info all came back the next day. I still have no idea what happened. I think Sprint lied when they said they didn't know, either.

I had issues with disappearing and reappearing info like that on my Razr -- but given the age of the phone, I think it was having senior moments.

Anyway, Razr was ditched. I have a Samsung Focus -- which is a Windows 7 Smartphone from AT&T. I kind of got it by default -- I have a shared family plan with my daughter, and she ditched her Blackberry about 5 months ago in favor of an LG Quantum (one of the 2 other Windows phone models offered by ATT) -- ATT was then having a 2 for 1 sale, so basically I qualified for a free phone right then & there. The LG Quantum has a slide out mechanical keyboard, which my d. likes, but I liked the better display on the Saumsung.

Anyway, I have been very happy with the phone. About 2 days ago I spilled an entire cup of tea on it... and it survived. Completely. So that definitely wins a few points.

The phone is pretty much built around the idea of synching to online services like Google or Windows Live, so basically the info carried around in the phone is the same as the info in the "cloud". It also works pretty well on the making phone calls thing. I get pretty good service -- dropped calls are pretty rare.

I can turn any song on my desktop PC (about 3,000 of them) into a ringtone. Right now, my ringtone is "What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding?" by Elvis "The King" Costello. 8-)

And it's got all kindsa customized stuff you can do. About 95% of the calls I make are to Wifehorn at home, on her cell, or at the shop, so I have one-touch shortcuts to all those on my main screen. It has 7 different screens, and you can put whatever you want on any of them, move them around, etc. Keyboard is very user-friendly.

The only thing I didn't like was if I put it in the cell phone holder between the front seats of my car, occasionally it would turn on the camera and take a shot of the great view under my dashboard. But I figured out how to push a button before I put it in the holder that fixed that.

Don't use it for GPS; don't use it as an MP3 player; screen's too small to effectively use it for Fogbow. But I can read email, send a tweet, calculate the tip, and other stuff.

I like it.

iPhone 3G, jailbroken, T-Mobile.

My original iPhone was the first cell phone I ever had that I didn't actively hate. I loved it, used it constantly for the non-phone things it did, too. When my partner (on AT&T) moved up to the iPhone4, he gave me his 3G, and I gave my original one to my 85-year-old mom. She loves it, has a pre-paid T-Mobile SIM card in it, and uses it on WiFi at home for all the other things it can do.

I have an HTC Evo and I love it. Its my phone, my calendar, my computer, my camera, and my starbucks card all wrapped into one!

Odd glitch though... every once in a while it will randomly decide that I'm in Iceland or Uraguay and if I don't catch it, my morning alarm is all screwed up.

I use a Samsung heavy duty MILSPEC phone. It is supposed to be drop resistant. I haven't tried that feature yet. I have it paired with a Plantronics blutooth. Does my phone sound boring? It is. It reflects my personality. I don't do the camera thing with it and I have the texting feature turned off. I got tired of paying for a text message to a wrong number everytime some ol' horndog went out drinking and tried to text to his gf at 2:00 AM. If someone wants to tell me something and I am not available, there's is always voicemail.

Finally broke down some time in July or so and got the iPhone 4, replacing the iPhone 2G I got the week they came out. It is like the damn thing has been surgically grafted to my hand the last however many years.
