Fogbow's Facebook page is now: http://www.facebook.com/The.Fogbow.

Just a grumble from accross the Big Pond:

I do not do Facebook, so I am blocking all social networking websites thru my firewall software. My objection is the "Like" counter that now appears in the forum heading and eats away real estate on my screen for no purpose. Foggy, please drop that stuff asap, you surely wont want to end like the Examiner.com with their fiendish interactions thru Facebook.

PS. I do like that Fogbow icon you are using. Try and convert it to a Favicon rather than using the 'FB' clashing with Facebook. Possibly superimpose a miniature 'TFB' over the icon prior to making it into a favicon. Just my CHF0.02 added.

It was a little too loud. I know what Richard is saying. It was too big and cluttered up the logo area.

I made it a less obnoxious link next to the "Home page and blogroll, Contribute to Fogbow" at the top.

You can still go there and "Like" the page.

It DID ask me for "awards". A pullet is a young hen, y'know. Just what us ephebophiliacs dream of. ;;)

Somebody who knows Facebook better than I do please check that.

I know we're going to get vandalized by birthers sooner or later. Might as well be ready for it.

So far I don't see a way to tell who has liked the page. My sister saw that verb and I had liked it, because she's friends with us both and it showed up in her feed. But she was unable to access a list of members/likers/whathaveyou from the page itself.

I'm going to ask my facebook experts (young punk offspring) to check as well.

ETA: I prefer that this setting stay this way, obviously, since these are real names we're using on there and all that.

It's like this book, with faces and shit. I dunno. Don't be a total neo-Luddite.

Don't insult me. I know how to PM. Foggy snail mailed the instructions to me a while ago and whenever I want to PM someone I pull out the letter and read through it just before I send. I am about to start e-mailing too. Foggy just sent me those instructions, but they are a bit complicated.

It's a homophone of the Pulitzer, silly.

What are the meaty urologists predicting for weather in your neck of the woods?

You know what I think would be an even better way to get Fogbow credit than facebook??

A twitter account called something like BirtherNews or something like that to be used only for breaking news, links to new docket entries etc. Anything breaking will go out from the fogbow, hopefully with a twitklink to the relevant fogbow thread. All of us who have twitter can then retweet the info so that anyone who follows us gets it.

I'm a twittard, but I know this is how people get info out and spreading quickly and exponentially.

The Fogbow Facebook page is a "page" not a "group".

Hence, no one can see who "likes" the page except me. That's WHY I made it a "page" instead of a "group". The only thing that will happen when you "like" the page is, your other Facebook friends will be told that you "like" that page.

And if just 6 more people "like" the page, I can give it a shorter, more readable, more user-friendly URL, also known in Facebook as a page's "username".

This is in the nature of a polite request. :-

I clicked on "like" but a dialog box popped up wanting me to log in to connect with my Fogbow Facebook friends.

Sorry to ask stupid questions, but do I have to do that for my "like" to count?

And, if I log in, does my name show up? I do notice one of our FB member real names down the page listed as liking a post.

OK, that's a little weird. You can't log in on my page. All you can do is "like" it. Hell, I can't log in on my own page. The only place on Facebook you can log in, is to log in to Facebook itself. Were you not logged in at the time? If not, you would be asked to log in.

You have to be logged in to Facebook for your "like" to count. There's no separate login for my page or any other business' page. I mean, you can "like" the page for Quizno's Subs in Denver, along with 208,895 of your closest buddies. But you can't log in to that page separate from your login to my page. They're functionally the same thing. I just have 208,873 fewer people that "like" my page.

Yes, if you "like" a specific post, your Facebook name will show up. Or if you post a comment to one of my posts (or a post of your own) your name will show up.

But if you just "like" the page itself, your name will NOT be made public at all.

Thanks, Fogster. I've officially "liked" it now. (Better late than never.)
