Former Iowa Congressman and “The Love Boat” actor Fred ["Gopher"] Grandy is no longer serving as a radio host for Washington, D.C.,-based WMAL.

Grandy and his wife, Catherine Mann-Grandy (known as “Mrs. Fred” when she appeared on the show), had used their program for the past several months “to warn about the spread of radical Islam at home and abroad,” according to a quote Grandy provided to London’s Daily Mail. Although the station says Grandy resigned, the host contends that he was forced to leave.

“Catherine delivered a very tough indictment against stealth jihad, and for her efforts she was told she was off the show,” Grandy said. “I then told management [that] without Mrs. Fred at the microphone, I could not remain either.”

In addition to theorizing how Muslims plan to harm the U.S., [highlight]Catherine also noted her agreement with the “birther” movement, which believes that President Barack Obama is foreign born[/highlight].

Odd. With a majority of Republicans now having been infested by birthoonia, why wouldn't a radio station want to play up that angle? As for the Muslim-bashing, I'm surprised they actually have limits on how xenophobic and racist one can be on talk radio. I didn't realize the word "limits" was even part of their vocabulary.

That was the response from William Murray, the chairman of a major anti-Muslim conference, after Hutton Hotels’ parent company cancelled its hosting contract for next month’s event in Tennessee. The “Preserving Freedom Conference” had been shaping up to be a veritable who’s-who among anti-Sharia leaders, including Atlas Shrugs blogger Pamela Gellar, Center for Security Policy president Frank Gaffney, and former Republican Congressman Fred Grandy.

According to The Tennessean, the hotel cancelled its contract after learning more about the conference’s agenda. It’s unclear whether the event organizers will be able to secure another location:
