IIRC, there has been reference to this planned "protest" in other threads, often in association with our hero, retired military nutjob Paul Vallely. Here's a bit of their latest plan for 3/13, for those who can't make it to the big rally:

Quote:
Here is what is planned:

• Sunday, March 13th, 2011 – 4 PM Eastern, 3 PM Central, 2 PM Mountain, and 1 PM Pacific time;

• We want everyone to get into their cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, Semis, box trucks, and any other vehicle, and drive to your nearest highway or main route;

• Don’t go far, just enough to get in a safe position to pull over to the shoulder, and park, engine running, headlights and flashers on;

There's all kinds of instructions/suggestions (like pretend you are pulling over to make a cell call or to text message, stay an HOUR (cuz it's enough time for the media to react), write your protests in soap in your vehicle's windows :lol: ).

Quote:
Imagine the image, when every news outlet in the USA must take notice.

Helicopters recording the event, YouTube filling with videos from every spot in America, with one message: “Just Stop”! Imagine seeing 300 cars pulled over for miles in California, in Texas, in New Jersey…etc.

Imagine the evening news and cable stations saying, “What the heck is going on?”

Do the math. If a car is 17 feet long, and 10 feet is maintained between each vehicle, it takes only 195 cars to stretch one mile. Imagine 500 tractor trailers pulling over for one hour! That’s over seven miles!

http://standupamericaus.com/road-to-rui ... stop-event

Now, I don't know how it is where you live, but here, if there is a minor fenderbender, at least 10 tow trucks show up to fight for the tow. No doubt law enforcement will be highly amused. :roll:

Try that round here at 4 PM ET and no-one would notice the difference - have these guys ever been in a metro area rush hour?!

Exactly! We don't even have breakdown lanes during rush hours on some of the roads around here.

Loonies.

SUA is Paul Vallely. What a nut.

Once, when i worked in Hollywood, David Lee Roth pulled a publicity stunt for his new album. The billboard advertising the album was put on the roof of the Tower Records on Sunset, which happened to be the building next door to where I worked. We watched him, from our office windows, change his clothes on the roof, strap on a climbing harness and begin to climb the volcano on the billboard, from which he would descend to the street below.

He had no permit, therefore no police presence directing traffic. Within minutes, he had snarled rush hour traffic for HOURS as cars slowed down or stopped in the middle of the street to watch this maniac get tangled up in his harness and hang upside down for about 20 minutes until his publicist rescued him. He insisted on finishing after that. He was arrested when he finally climbed down.

Maybe something like this will happen on 3/13?

Exactly! I-66 or 270 already are parking lots at 4 pm. The only discenible difference will be the soap writing, which I'm hoping is as well-spelled as most birther missives. I'm also betting on massive rainstorms hehehe

I see lots of orange ticket tags hanging from the driver's side outside mirror on cars stopped on the shoulder. They create a road hazard. The shoulder lane is there for a reason, and this isn't it.

Maybe some tow truck will take Vallely off the road along with this vehicle.

Oh Canada Free Press is on this one, an interview by Sher Zieve :roll: with the brainchild of this, Lynn Vogel

Quote:
A We the People’s Protest whose time has come

By Sher Zieve Friday, February 25, 2011

Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking with and interviewing Lynn Vogel—the owner of the website 20Turns.com. Lynn has a unique outlook on protests and—for those who work for a living and can’t make it to out of town rallies—has a recommendation for protests against the tyranny in Washington D.C. in which almost all can participate.

****

Sher: When we talked, you said that there are five more projects that you have planned throughout the rest of this year. Would you give us an idea as to what they are?

Lynn:I’d rather not give too much detail yet because our opposition has already moved to counter the 3/13 event and I do not wish to tip our hand to them. However, I can say that all future projects will share the same strategy of easy participation coast to coast and in your neighborhood with little effort. The most complicated event will involve horses and family-fun but all will be interesting and will provide a forum for patriots to demonstrate their grievances in a peaceful way.

It's a Sunday. Everyone will think they're just clueless Sunday Drivers, like my grandma who only drove to go to church and regularly got fists shaken at her by everyday drivers.

OK now I'm worried - I'm getting visions of pony rides, clowns and bouncy castles on I-66! Good job I'll be out of the country.

If it were not for the very real danger to the horses, the idea of horses on the Interstates would be highly amusing. Illegal, too.

Would this protest be possible in a true tyranny?

In CA you can't stop in the emergency lane unless it is an emergency. You can get a ticket for pulling over to make a phone call (you are supposed to exit the freeway).

If these jokers try that crap on a California freeway -- and traffic on that freeway is miraculously flowing -- they'll get rear ended and badly injured.
No, Orly you fuckwit, this is not a death threat. Keep the Tesla out of L.A. County.

Alas, they will never understand the irony of having the freedom to protest the tyranny.

No self-respecting, responsible horse owner would ride their horse onto an interstate. Anyone talking about doing that is an asshat.

I've got my soap ready for my windows. :lol:

StandUpAmerica is all excited.

From the P&E

Road to Ruin…Just Stop! Event on 3-13-11

SUA NATIONAL CALL TO ACTION EVENT
from StandUpAmerica Blog

Quote:
(Mar. 10, 2011) — SUA is promoting this effort for people to express their outrage. To vent in a manner that cannot be overlooked by anyone! This first wave of action is something the people can really grasp, and in no way shape or form does it condone any ill-action, rather, its about civility, and its akin to a sit-in. You can take it for anything you wish, but it is in our educational directive and charter that SUA wants America to observe, learn, and understand that the time is now for action.

Brief Description – Sarah Palin called the Obama Administration’s actions as the “Road to Ruin”! Like most of the USA now, we at Stand Up America think it is a great way to express yourself and learn what is really happening to our country, so what can we do? Well, it seems the normal methods do not work because of entrenched political machinery, moneyed interests, power seeking for power’s sake, and a media that is just plan in the tank.

[snip]

So how do we make our voices known? How do we finally succeed? How do we send a clear message that cannot be twisted by the media, misinterpreted by politicians, or co-opted by Obama apologists? Well, we have come up with one interesting new way. Are you game? It won’t cost you any money short of a gallon of gas. It won’t take much of your time, only about an hour. It won’t mean travel to distant cities. It won’t mean crowds to wade through, and it won’t interfere with your life too much.

[snip]

Here is what is planned:

• Sunday, March 13th, 2011 – 4 PM Eastern, 3 PM Central, 2 PM Mountain, and 1 PM Pacific time;

• We want everyone to get into their cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, Semis, box trucks, and any other vehicle, and drive to your nearest highway or main route;

[...]

• Hook up a boat trailer, a snow mobile hauler, or anything to make the line look miles and miles long, bring your tractor-trailer;

[...]

• Imagine others driving by wondering “what the heck”? Wave to everyone; :lol:

Imagine the image, when every news outlet in the USA must take notice. :roll:

Helicopters recording the event, YouTube filling with videos from every spot in America, with one message: “Just Stop”! Imagine seeing 300 cars pulled over for miles in California, in Texas, in New Jersey…etc.

I too can imagine folks saying WTF. :lol: :lol:

They are competing with Anonymous vs. Scientology rallies in cities around the world. March 13 is L. Ron Hubbard's birthday.
