a couple guidelines.

You don't have to retweet part of a tweet when replying to someone. But, If you do retweet part of a tweet in your reply, you should add a slash or pipe to separate.

If you retweet but need to shorten a person's link, that's okay. either truncate it and use "...", or abbreviate some words. Whatever you want, as long as you don't change the meaning.

If you DO change the meaning, use MT instead of RT. MT = Modified Tweet. If you can, use the pipe or bars too. It's not always do-able though.

It's nice to keep your name short because if a person retweets you and wants to add a hashtag or a reply, your name counts toward the 140 allowable characters.

Short tweets are sweet.

What ya can't do is post anyone else's personal information (address for example) without their permission.

Does anyone else get porn spam on twitter? I only signed up and used it once and then cancelled but that was enough for spammers/porn people to get my e-mail and send unwelcome messages. Same with FB.
