I think a lot of us, not just Foggy, are rethinking how we do what we do. This thread is an example of that.

I take the long weekend off and come back to this.
*sigh* so some birfoon publishes an "expose" on PJ/TFB and suddenly we have to play nice with these people? They threaten lawsuits and we are all supposed to roll over and play dead? With the brilliant legal minds on this board (I am not including myself in this group in case anyone was wondering) that could crush any lawsuit with a motion to dismiss in about three nano seconds we are supposed to play nice? They have threatened death and imprisonment towards my POTUS, FLOTUS and fambly and we are supposed to play nice? They have called for armed insurrection, and overthrow of the legally elected government and we are supposed to play nice? WTF?
These people do not deserve nice. They do not deserve respect, nor civility. These people have called for the destruction of the country and constitution which they claim to love so much. They have called for armed revolution cause they didn't get their way at the ballot box. They have spewed the most vile hatred toward elected officials and anyone who does not agree with them. They have caused serious harm within the military and caused serious disruption with military good order and disclipline.
They come after us and we are supposed to roll over and show them our belly? Ain't happening.
Foggy please continue twittering. Please continue doing what you do so brilliantly.
PS) There is so much I do not understand in this thread. Mari and Realist are an item? (married?) I am so confused right now it is not even funny. Perhaps someone needs to PM me as obviously I didn't get the latest newsletter.

Thank you, Britty, but no, I'm not going to be on Twitter for the foreseeable future. Which is funny, because about five people have "followed" me since I quit.
Good for you, taking the long weekend off. I wish I could have done that. It was a brutal weekend, for me.
It wasn't about "nice" or "mean," though. Saying "She sickens me" is mean. Saying "She's beyond despicable" is mean. It wasn't about ripping up GretaWire or Repubx or AFGJ or PlainsRadio or any of those. GretaWire died more than a month ago; the others long before that. When I was mean to people on those sites, it was a fair fight. They had the chance to respond in kind, and they surely did. I had to take what I dished out. If it's OK to say mean things here about people who can't respond, then it isn't about mean.
It was all about pissing off one person in particular. Which is understandable, of course. But it was only about being mean to that one person. And I suppose you saw, 24 hrs. later she thought better of accusing me of threatening her, because she scrubbed every single tweet about it. I reckon the cops weren't too receptive to her describing what I said as a "threat". But if I keep using Twitter, I'll certainly piss her off again ...
On the other hand, ducktape's "Rank Hath Its Penalties" pretty well sums up the comments and sentiments of several people. Tolland is right, I really have been rethinking how I do what I do.
I don't think President Obama asked us to have "civil discourse" with birthers. He surely doesn't have civil discourse with them. I used to try to have civil discourse with them, long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away. With birthers, you're right: civil discourse is a waste of precious time. I'll never "play nice" with birthers. But there's a difference between "playing nice" and not seeking out battle. I'm not going to be nice. I'm just not going to seek out battle. I have more important things to do than battle, in any event.
I think I'll go do some of those things right now.
Crank it up ...

With all due respect Foggy - bullshit. These people deserve everything they get. Every single thing. They brought it on themselves. Do not ever forget that. THEY BROUGHT IT ON THEMSELVES. Personally I am not going to roll over and die cause somehow we should suddenly all be civil cause someone has threatened a lawsuit. Damn, if Yoda rolled over and died every time someone threatened a lawsuit we would have gone out of business a long time ago. Nope, as Yoda says "bring it on, I'll see you in court"

Where the heck has anyone said we all should "roll over and die"?
No one has even said one had to be "civil."
What Foggy has stated is all that's ever been said or pointed out.

Edit: ETA: And also no one has even hinted that we could not successfully defend a lawsuit. The only point made about a lawsuit is that it's incredibly stupid to actively seek to have one filed against you... and that's true both here and anywhere else, business, social, or personal.

He said he was leaving twitter and all other sites that were not Fogbow. Cause someone didn't like what he was saying. Sorry I do not like that. What Foggy has been doing on Twitter and on other sites is re-educating, I do not think anyone should silence him. I am not scared of these morons, they can come after me every day of the week and twice on Sundays, I know a really good lawyer or two. Should that fail and these assholes decide to visit my house I will just tell Cueball that they are bathroom doors. Good Luck with that.

But I'm not going back to PJ and pretend that birthers don't exist or that their existence is meaningless. I still think they're evil, and I enjoy fighting the evil. I will still criticize birthers here. If birthers join and read those comments, so be it.
There's nothing wrong with any of that, Foggy. It just seems lately that we've been acting more like a frat house than an honours society, and we're better than that.
This isn't meant as rudely as it might sound, but speak for yourself. You may be better than that, but I'm not.

Maybe you wish to spend your own time and money when these asshats sue you, but others do not and I don't blame them.

No one asked him to quit going anywhere. Call what's done elsewhere whatever you wish, and no one said anything about silencing anyone... not even Foggy said that in his last post, merely he'd say things in a different manner.

I doubt anyone here is scared of these morons. We all know good lawyers, and if needed we all know how to use them. The point is to invite having to use them is really stupid. If they force us to, we will.
I've seen the doors Cueball goes after. You're right... good luck with that.

I never said roll over. I said fight their stuff with facts. How that is rolling over I don't understand.
Ps Y'all, I am overwhelmed with the support you have given me. It is so heartwarming, the love I've been shown. Yall are the best.
With all due respect but the RWNJ have been screaming "shoving it down our throats" for the past two years, that is their mantra, it is so damn old. They have been screaming "shoving it down our throats" for two damn years and when one of us turns it around on them we turn on him? Really?

Civility and dignity have something to be said for them, but what has more concerned me is effectiveness or the lack of it. Research and education are what we have been about all along, along with satire, ridicule, and mocking for good measure -- but reason and facts have been the core. It's that that I don't want to lose.

If these morons decide to sue me they will be sorry they did. Not only do I have a stable of lawyers (beginning with Yoda) but all of them know about the attorney fees for a frivilous lawsuit statute... hope they got deep pockets.

And consider whether, rather than avoiding lawsuits, we start looking like SLAPP candidates.

Jebus in a basket people.
No one has turned on anyone here. No one believes we should run and hide. No one is asking Foggy to stop posting where ever and when ever he wants.
All anyone is asking is that we keep in mind that the "birthers" are vindictive cretins that will go to any lengths to find out who we are and to inflict serious chaos on us, our loved ones and innocent bystanders. So if any of us chooses to engage in combat, please try to keep the collateral damage to a minimum.
In battle, you can outwit, outflank, or outlast your enemy. Or, you can run screaming across an open field, guns a-blazing. Me, I like to take the guerrilla approach so that the morons don't know where to return fire.
We have discussed and reflected and I think that's a good thing. Maybe now we can get back to focusing on the idiots who drew us together in the first place.

Well congratulations to Mari and Realist. - I was never quite sure if the hints were real or an in-joke.
But fashion-wise do pink and green match?
