She's a little chubby, but not really that big. I was holding her away from me. She's not right next to me. I suppose it's a weird perspective. She's a cat. You try getting a pic with the webcam thingy. :P

Cheap at twice the price. I paid $700 to fix a fat black cat's clogged urinary tube problem. The cat gets a special (as in expensive) diet for the rest of its life. Lucky cat. This is one of the few cats I've liked. I'm even somewhat attached to it too. Also.

Gawd! You can buy a mighty fine dog for $700 bucks and have a loyal friend who ain't finicky, for better than a decade.

My little Weeny's eye was messed up. Looked like she was crying from one eye poor little thing. So I made an appointment to spend my day off tomorrow taking her to the vet. So instead of sleeping in I get to stuff a halfwit Persian Into her carrier. Drive her down a major highway. Pay about $100 to the vet.

Did I mention her eye cleared up right after I made the appointment?

My Trouble has had a leaky eye since the day I adopted her; comes and goes, couple times a day. Vet said as long as it's clear, no worries. Almost 2 years later, Trouble goes in to have her toofs cleaned. When I pick her up, in addition to the usual post-prandial antibiotics, I get a tube of ointment to put in her eye 2x a day for the next 10 days. WTF? Well, according to the vet, today there was green goo coming out of that eye.

I never saw no green goo. I never used the ointment. To this day, her eye tears up 2-3 times a day, same as always, always clear...except once in a great while, in the morning, after she's been snoozing upside-down with her head on my arm for hours, it's a little goobery. Well so's my eyes, dammit!

Coincidentally, tomorrow is rabies shot day for Trouble. She gets to meet the new vet fresh out of vet school.

This cat aint finicky. It likes me. It purrs at night while sleeping and keeping my feet warm. It's cheaper than some things I've had that could have cared less about my warm feet. :P

Edit: Don't even ask how much I paid for cremation of the bestest dog I ever had.

Was the cremation more expensive than preservation by the taxidermist?

I know approximately, because I did the same in November 2009. Worth it, completely. I keep the ashes near my desk and workbench all the time. They give me something.

My bestest dog. She's the one in my avatar here (which I will update soonish). It will probably be another dog doing something with scrabble, because once I find something that works, I stick with it forever.

Sal the Cat summoned for jury service... and court rules he 'must attend'

Quote:
A pet cat has been summoned for jury duty - and has been told by courts he 'must attend'

Despite owner Anna Esposito's protestations that a mistake has been made, a jury commissioner has ruled that Sal must attend the court.

She wrote that Sal was 'unable to speak and understand English' - and included a letter from her vet saying that the animal was a 'domestic short-haired neutered feline'.

<snip>

Bizarrely, the court ruled the animal must report to the courtroom. If the matter is not resolved he will have to report to Suffolk Superior Crown Court in Boston, U.S. on March 23.

Does the cat get mileage and jury pay? Inquiring minds want to know.

After a quick examination of my own Jury Summons to the same court, I note that sadly I'm up the next week, not Sal's week. Nuts -- I was looking forward to serving with the cat.

My dog would convict everyone. Thing is though... I don't remember a space for pets on the City Census.

I'd be really, really pissed if I had to torture my kitteh by stuffing her into a carrier to take her to court.

She'd be really, really pissed at me for at least a week.

Good point! Mine tore my left shoulder to shreds yesterday when I had to take her to the vet yesterday. 3 cans of tuna later and I'm still expecting poop in my shoes.
