You may wonder how a radio station is going to present a fireworks display.

The Oldies station is going to broadcast synchronized music as part of the display. You can listen at home or via a portable radio or smartphone while you watch the display.

Unaware of what is to come, the local fireflies have begun their twilight display.

They aren't synchronized with the radio.

Dark now.

Private fireworks going off to the west, sw and north.

A loud party to our west.

Just 15 minutes until the National Anthem will start the Oldies station and Sag Harbor synchronized show.

Boom, bang, bang, boom.............etc....

Multiple competing private fireworks displays surround us.

The police? They do nothing.

Of course they are seriously outnumbered.

The number of bangs per minute going down as folks' supply of ammunition runs low.

Mrs.V just left to take our daughters to the airport.

Older daughter made it to Philly and was going to buy food to eat on the second flight to DFW.

Younger daughter and Mrs. V ate at a diner near the airport while waiting for her later flight. I got their leftovers. Younger daughter is on her plane and will check in during brief layover in Nashville.

Younger daughter adopted two rats yesterday from a pet rat rescue organization and hopes to pick them up tonight after arriving in Dallas.

Older daughter will get in late because she has 3 different flights to get home.

Someone not far to the SW is having an outdoor party with really bad live music.

So far only a few loud BOOMS but it isn't dark yet.

The Oldies station has pretty much abandoned its holiday playlist which suits me.

Mrs.V joined me on the porch but the bad live music drove her inside after a few minutes.

So far just some light bangs in the distance.

The awful musicians have stopped.

Traffic is light. People either left during the day or are staying overnight.

For the 3rd year in a row the local Polish Town Fair has been cancelled.

Covid is part of the reason. Also the Polish Association president died this past spring.

The Polish leadership promise to be back for 2023.

Last night the Greenport Band opened the Southold Gazebo Summer Concert Series. Mrs. V is the one holding a flute-

Not North Fork but too close for comfort.

This is the first I have heard of a LI town having a shark patrol.

Over the last several years the waters around LI have become significantly warmer. Bad for the lobsters. Good for the sharks.

The two younger generations in the cottage to the east left yesterday.

Mrs.V's cousin and his wife, the grandparents, are still here but will head back upstate tomorrow.

Our back yard neighbors over one house to the south finished their new pool a month ago, and oddly they have suddenly become the family gathering point each weekend. The kids voices, splashing, and laughter can be heard well into the evening. Very enjoyable actually.

And at 9:47 AM the first lawnmower of the day has started.

And now the 2nd lawnmower of the morning has started.

And now the 2nd lawnmower of the morning has started.

There's a live video feed of grass growing (as a joke), and one of the videos is of a man mowing the grass. It's a typical small front yard patch. I could do it with a push mower in no time. But no, he's gotta have a power mower.

The lawnmowers continue to pollute the air with noise.

I can remember a time and place when where people wouldn't dream of mowing their lawns on a Sunday.

Heaven knows I am not a religious man. But some peace and quiet one day a week would be a good thing.
