That started as a labor/union issue. It kinda morphed into a lot bigger thing, didn't it? I wondered about that one.

I know what you mean. But IMO, a lot of labor issues morph into a lot bigger things, it being about a third of our lives, what funds the other two thirds, how it gets involved for better or worse in other politics, etc. But yeah, it started out with some asshole Reepub who planned and schemed amongst his creepy fellows (and ladies, loosely speaking) to screw state workers as soon as he could after getting elected.
