I hope I wasn't unclear. Posting this in the "behaving badly" thread was a reference to Bachmann's behavior, not McCain's. McCain also did the right thing (if awkwardly) when the woman at the 2008 campaign event called Obama an Arab.

No, I totally understood you. In fact, I thought about putting the story under the Bachmann thread earlier today. It's pretty sad when a long term Senator, who was a POW for all of those years, and the last GOP Presidential nominee, has people like Bachmann thumbing their nose at him whilst trying to destroy a good, honorable and brilliant human being in the process. So, yes, I agree with you and yes I think you put it in the right place. :D

Every once in a while Senator McCain shows that deep down he really is "the good guy".

He also may be one of the last Republicans with a shred of human decency, something for which the howler monkeys hate him. His concession speech in 2008 was one of the few honorable things I have recently seen in Presidential politics and made me forgive him for a lot of the crap that went on in that bitter race. That his people had Sarah Palin's mike cut to prevent her shitting on the stage is another.

I think the fact that he does not say anything bad about the running mate who basically put the last nail in his campaign's coffin is also a class act. Palin neither deserves nor appreciates that, being a narcissistic nutjob.

Rachel had this as a part of a larger story about RWNJ influencing people overseas and linking Rush, Bachman, General Boykin, Glenn Beck, etc. to the demonstrators who were pelting Hilary's limo in Egypt because they think the Obama administration is responsible for the Muslim Brotherhood winning the election.

Utah GOP Fundraiser Accused Of Raping Women At Cabin Where He Hosted Political Events

Nick R. Martin July 19, 2012, 1:38 PM 11204

Utah authorities on Wednesday accused a high-profile Republican fundraiser of raping women at a cabin where he hosted events for some of the biggest names in politics in the state.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported on Thursday that prosecutors charged GOP fundraiser Greg Peterson with 23 felony counts, including the rapes of four women. Jail records online showed that he was still being held on $750,000 bond.

***

On Peterson’s Facebook page, he describes himself as the owner of Peterson Wealth Management and features a photo of him meeting GOP presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Another photo shows an invitation to a Romney fundraiser that he co-chaired on Nov. 17, 2007 in Park City, Utah.

His most recent Facebook post was at 3:49 p.m. on Wednesday with an image of a spider in a web. The photo mocked a recent speech by President Obama with the text “Nice Web. You Didn’t Build That.”

OK, there were people who disrespected President Bush, but did any part of the Democratic party ever do such a thing?

Anderson Cooper reports on the Michele Bachmann led anti-Muslim crusade and the influence of Frank Gaffney. The co-signors of Bachmann's letter are some of the usual RWNJ congress members.

From Mother Jones.

After Bachmann Allegations, Clinton Deputy Reportedly Under Police Protection
—By Nick Baumann
| Mon Jul. 23, 2012 9:02 AM PDT

Quote:
In June, five Republican members of Congress, including Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), sent letters to the nation's top law enforcement, defense, and intelligence agencies warning that the Muslim Brotherhood, an international Islamist organization, had infiltrated the United States government. Bachmann and her associates—Reps. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Thomas Rooney (R-Fla.), and Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.)—demanded an investigation, and Bachmann told radio host Sandy Rios that "it appears that there are individuals who are associated with the Muslim Brotherhood who have positions, very sensitive positions, in our Department of Justice, our Department of Homeland Security, potentially even in the National Intelligence Agency."

There is not even a smidgen of credible evidence to back up the charges Bachmann and her colleagues have made. But one of the individuals Bachmann has singled for her supposed ties to the Muslim Brotherhood—Huma Abedin, a longtime aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton—has suffered very real consequences. Abedin, who's married ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner, with whom she has a new baby, has received threats in the wake of Bachmann's charges and is now under police protection, the New York Post reported Sunday. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) took to the Senate floor last week to defend Abedin, but that hasn't been enough to stop the witchhunt.

I have not been a fan of Sensenbrenner, but this was an honorable act by him. It is heartening to see a political foe acting honorably when he could easily have stood aside and given a free pass to someone on his own side.

I don't expect Boehner will have the balls to do what should be done, which is to censure Bachmann and remove her from any position of authority, such as her seat on the Intelligence Committee. Of course, merely putting a crazy person on the Intelligence Committee in the first place is a sign of seriously warped priorities.

Demonstrates a lack of common sense and judgement the speaker of the house should have.

I agree. But I've also seen these notable comments by people across the political spectrum as an impressive tribute to Ms. Abedin. Many of those who have stepped up to support her make a point of saying that they know her personally. They have obviously been impressed by what they know of her.

Minneapolis Star Tribune Letter to the Editor

Quote:
REP. MICHELE BACHMANN
Jewish social-justice organization reacts

Jewish Community Action is a nonprofit that strives to and succeeds in building bridges over racial, religious and ethnic lines to address pressing social-justice issues, so we do not endorse or participate in electoral politics. We do speak out, however, in the face of injustice and bias. Silence in such circumstances is just not acceptable.
Minneapolis Star Journal Letter to the Editor
This past week, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann publicly linked her fellow Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison to the Muslim Brotherhood and, by implication, to terrorism. Jewish Community Action has spent more than 15 years pursuing justice and advocating for Minnesota to become a more inclusive society. As Jews, we understand what it is like to be treated as the other, excluded from the community or targeted by prejudice and suspicion.

Our country has lived through more than enough episodes of guilt by association. Too many important real domestic issues and problems are at stake for the media and policymakers to be distracted by pointless fear-mongering. It is time for Bachmann to apologize to Ellison and all Muslims unless she has clear evidence of serious safety concerns.

ANDREA RUBENSTEIN and VIC ROSENTHAL, St. Paul

The writers are board chair and executive director, respectively, of Jewish Community Action.

I also heard her Democratic opponent is now in a dead heat with her. :D

His website (for anyone who has some spare scratch they want to itch) is JimGraves.com.

I am sure he will take any out of district money that is offered to send Ms Bachmann home for good. Jes say'en ya know... :- :-
