My outsider question:

Has anyone an overview on the overall outcome of the Senate elections?

Nate Silver is your friend.

There's a FiveThirtyEight Forecast column over toward the right, and if you click the "Senate" option, you'll get a pretty good picture.

At the moment, Dems are 86.4% to retain the majority, with a predicted 52.4 seats. (Insert obligatory "empty chair" joke.)

Here's an overview of the outlook of the Senate races:

http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/2012/senate-outlook

I would really like to see enough Dems and Indies to overcome the GOP filibusteros, but there's little chance of that. A really good chance to stay in the majority.

A few months ago some Republicans believed the Senate races in Missouri, Montana, Nebraska and North Dakota were all going to be wins for the GOP. All four seats are presently held by Democratic Senators. If the Republicans could hold on to Massachusetts (Indiana wasn't a concern until Sen Lugar lost his primary contest), the Senate would be under Republican control even if Obama/Biden won. If Rmoney were to win the Republicans could afford one loss and still be in control (VP Ryan casts tie breaking votes). But something happened along the way.

Senate seat held by a Democrat
Missouri: Democrat is leading
Montana: Tie
Nebraska: Republican comfortably leading
North Dakota: Republican barely leading

Senate seat held by a Republican
Indiana: Republican barely leading
Massachusetts: Democrat is leading

Republicans could end up with a net gain, a net loss or be exactly the same as they are now.

One think you forget about North Dakota. A Democrat there is what we would call a sane Republican. They are usually rather right of center, but overly Conservative.

Intrade's latest on the House lists Republican odds to keep the House at 92.4%. :(

The TP Caucus is the tail that wags the House Republican dog. Unless there are a bunch of TP'ers who go down the tubes, I don't see that changing. Since they're motivated by a quasi-religious fervor, I don't see them changing either.

I'm so ticked off with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee I can't see straight! Here's the e-mail I got from them today:
Quote:
Mind-boggling! In just 48 hours, 6,143 grassroots supporters have contributed to the “Stop the Takeover” fund. But Rove’s largest ad buy ever is flooding eight deadlocked Senate races—and if Republicans win just four seats, they’ll take the Senate majority! And now, odds of a Democratic Senate have dropped below 50%.

If we urgently put 2,451 more donations into the “Stop the Takeover” fund by midnight tomorrow, we’ll rush a record-high number of emergency donations to battlegrounds like Ohio and Virginia to take on Rove. Can you give $25 immediately? We’ll match gifts 3-to-1 for 24 hours only.

Thanks for all you do,
Anna Chu

I can't find any information anywhere that indicates that odds of a Democratic Senate have dropped below 50%. Nate Silver puts the odds at 87.6%. The e-mail gives no attributions or links for their contention.

They also prominently featured a big, scary graphic supposedly showing Warren over Brown 49-47% and Kaine over Allen 47-46% (which might be about right), again with no attributions or links, but clearly meant to look like poll results.

Ya' know, if they had just asked me for the money - especially since they say they're going to match 3 to 1, I probably would have made another donation. But I'll be damned if I'll put up with being scammed, even especially by Democrats.

That looks like a Moveon.org Email. I get them all the time and my bullshit meeter went off on them months ago. Especially since they havent noticed that my email is forign and afaik it would be illegal for me to chip in a donation. Not to mention every email is begging for money

Agreed, Suranis - it's a constant beg. I'm okay with that part. I get more than 10 of those a day, though I find it funny (peculiar) that you get them too. But I don't remember getting anything like this from MoveOn. In my experience, when they put out a "fact" they provide some sort of attribution. The thing with this was the apparent dishonesty, along with that DCCC logo at the bottom. Maybe they have some support for their claim, but they should have offered it or linked to it if so.

Not me. I haven't reviewed anywhere near enough races to make that prediction regarding the House. I've concentrated on just a few House races I'm interested in.

I don't know about Montana. It's been close all year but most of the polls I read have tester slightly ahead. Hopefully Heitkamp makes a comeback as well.

I've "reconsidered" my Taitz winning the California US Senate race statement and offer these as my final predictions (I refused to claim "Too Close To Call" on any race).

Arizona...............Republican Hold (Flake)
California............Democratic Hold (Feinstein)
Connecticut.........Democratic Hold (Murphy)
Delaware............Democratic Hold (Carper)
Florida...............Democratic Hold (Nelson)

No net gain for either party.

I'm also expecting the Montana race to be the last one decided. I won't surprised if the results require an automatic recount.

Chris Murphy, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senator from Connecticut, says that Linda McMahon, World Wrestling Entertainment candidate for the same seat, has signs out urging people to vote for Obama and McMahon. Although I have not seen those signs, this would be consistent with how McMahon has been running. I have not even seen a McMahon sign or ad that identifies her as a Republican. It is not terribly surprising that a Connecticut Republican would turn her back on Romney so firmly; she knows how the state will vote on the Presidency. I don't think many voters will be fooled into thinking that she and President Obama are on the same ticket.

I heard the same thing from co-workers. She also ran an ad recently that I've seen on tv with supposed people voting for Obama and McMahon saying she's somehow an independent voice.

TPM has a story about this Linda McMahon Gives Master Class In False Flag GOTV with pictures of sample ballots, T-shirts, and ads.

Apparently Connecticut is one of those places where you can be selected as the candidate for more than one party. McMahon managed to get listed as the Independent Party candidate, which she displays prominently and hides the fact that she's a repub who endorses Romney.

She's pretty busy trying to glom onto the coat tails of the Winner....Mr. Obama...Just like Gov Christie has done.

They are all in private busy uncoupling themselves from the albatross that is the GOP Presidential Ticket and trying to look like a moderate that will be "bipartisan"....The pugs respect bipartisan as much as they respect bisexual.

Chris Murphy is endorsed by the Connecticut Working Families Party. Voting for him on that line sends a message to the Democratic Party that it needs to concentrate on middle and working class families. This was something that LIEberman would never have thought of doing.

I would still like to see Tester hold on. The polls were close in AZ for a while it would have been nice to pull a democratic win there. Guess We'll see.
