Election Day may be quite some time away, but these numbers for Tim Kaine against George Allen look encouraging. Sen Jim Webb, who defeated the incumbent Sen Allen by less than 0.05% in 2006, is retiring after only one term in office.

A link for Kaine's web site is included.

Allen is pretty popular with the redneck culture types in some of the more rural areas, but I seriously hope Kaine takes it.

If only someone would only come along and send Cantor and Wittman packing! Both of them are (as my mother use to say) “about as useless as tits on a bull hog”.

Humm.. It appears that the #3 top recipient of Koch cash this year is none other than George Allen. Imagine that!

I've neglected updating this race. Take your pick on whom to believe.

If Rasmussen has the Republican +1 approximately the same time PPP has the Democrat +1, I'll call it a tie.

Former Gov Tim Kaine has opened a slight lead against former Gov (and former Sen) George Allen. Five different organizations since Sept 12 show Kaine with a lead ranging from 1pt (PPP) to 8pts (Washington Post). It's odd that Rasmussen shows Kaine with a larger lead (2pts) than PPP. That doesn't happen often.

I'm seeing a lot of good signs. But I still refuse to be optimistic, until it's all over.

Confession time: That quote was the subject of one of my favorite essays by George Orwell, who translated it into bureaucratese. A stunningly beautiful passage of English, too.

I heard a pastor in Chicago once on NPR, celebrating a court decision in favor of civil rights, who announced that "The Bible says the race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but he who perseveres will win in the end."

Which, of course, is just about the exact opposite of the actual meaning in the Bible. [-X Sometimes even people I agree with torture the text. #-o

The undecided/other are becoming fewer and fewer. Public Policy Polling shows Tim Kaine with a 7pt lead over George Allen with only 5pt available. Rasmussen has Kaine with a 7pt lead with only 3pt uncommitted to either.

While searching for some polling data on the VA Senate race I stumbled across this site. Notice who contributed $30,000 to Tim Kaine's campaign.

Image

Now notice who gave George Allen $35,000. That one is a little less of a head scratcher.

The Kaine donors are certainly a surprise. :-?

An ad by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) suggesting that George Allen in the US Senate is not wanted nor needed by Virginia women.

I believe someone deserves congratulations for selecting the image of Allen that was used. I see arrogance in that image.
