This is one of my favorites, but there are so many terrific photos on The Obama Diary of the prez surprising tourists at the Lincoln Memorial today.

=)) Poor Secret Service. He keeps them hopping.

go watch the videos. People are sooooo excited to see him! Totally awesome.

Interesting in the second video when he comes down the stairs and people are along the rope line, the Secret Service guy ahead of him very nicely says "just keep your hands out where we can see them is all we ask" .

Hey people, whenever you feel down again about the levels of hate directed at the President from the extreme left and right, just look at these photos and the video again – the extremes just make the loudest noise, the people in these photos are the silent majority. Well, silent until they meet the President, then they make a whole lot of noise. They know he’s doing the best job he can possibly do for them in the face of ceaseless opposition. Take heart from that, always.

The Obama Diary is a lovely, positive site.

It's very refreshing and heartwarming change from the swamp like places we tend to visit in the tracking of the birthers. :D

Kimba, did you notice that little girl makes it down to the front somehow and gets to stand right in front of the President? It's a few photos after the one you posted.

Despite all the birfer nonsense, including most recently by Donald the Dunce Drumpf, BHO is still POTUS.

Yes! When I'm someplace like that, I have no problem letting a kid get up front, coz you can still see over them. If a grown up tried to push past me like that, I'd block 'em! Happened at the OSU rally last Oct with students trying to cut to the front like they were at a U2 concert or something.

I love the bit in the second vid where POTUS shakes the hand of the National Park Service guard lady (in Uniform) after he shakes her hand, she keeps taking photographs then all of a sudden she starts jumping up and down with glee, obviously delighted to shake his hand. We are always down in the weeds of birfistan, it is nice sometimes to raise our heads above the crap to realize that the MAJORITY of the people who share this Country love them some POTUS, just as we do, we are the majority. We should always remember that.

Watching tape of his visit on the ABC Evening News tonight you could hear the cheering of the crowd. Made me smile.

I made my comments in the shutdown thread. I just want to add that it was a cold gray day in D.C. yesterday. Not pleasant spring weather, it was about 45° and cloudy.

The people who visit the Lincoln Memorial on a day like that are the REAL Americans. That little girl's parents took her there, not to meet the president, but to learn about the greatness of our national heritage. It's a secular place of worship, that place. It's not a place for the whackjobs. It's not a place where people say they want to shrink the government down to a size where they can drown it in the bathtub. It's a place for realizing how great our government really is, despite it's flaws and failures.

Beck and Palin disgraced it. President Obama had the right attitude.

I've taken my kids to the Lincoln Memorial a LOT, so yesterday we went to the Nationable Zoo instead. ?( I haz a jealous.

Ya know Kimba I love me some POTUS, but if he ISN'T wearing a vest, I will has a serious mad at him (and I would guess Michelle too). It would be totally irresponsible not to be wearing one. I mean Jeebus election night when he appeared in Grant Park behind those bullet proof screens I was actually thinking that bullet proof screens are fine but I would prefer him only ever appearing in a three foot thick, triple bullet proof box for the rest of his term (the boy in the bubble had nothing on what I imagined). Yeah I know I am paranoid but having read what I have read on the internet I think I have a right to be.

I kind of had the same thought, but the POTUS is much less likely to be whacked at an impromptu event like this. Most of these events involve premeditation and scheming by the would-be assassin, who chooses an event that was planned out long in advance. While I share your concern that a random armed lunatic might just suddenly seize an opportunity, I can't think of any case where this has actually happened, from the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand forward. Even M'Naghten, the delusional lunatic whose case originated an early rule for the insanity defense, appears to have premeditated his attempted assassination of Robert Peel.

Maybe I'm cutting more slack for Obama than usual because those photos were so utterly delightful and thrilling, and reminded me once again of things I love about this country. I generally just see things that infuriate me in the fake corporate "news" media.

I saw some more film of his visit on the news this evening, filmed from different angles than I had previously seen; I'm 98.6% sure that he WAS wearing a vest. They do make some pretty light weight ones theses days. Wicked expensive.

=D> Mahalo Addy. I'd not seen that link, so Mahalo to Fogbow too. I'll go back there in the months ahead, to help me shed the crud that comes from reading about Birthers.

On the other hand, the African American agent looks like he's in full body armor under his suit.

My heart and soul goes out to all of them. What an incredible job they do.

I think part of what you're seeing is the outline of the automatic weapon under his coat. Check the guy to the President's left, you can see the handle under his left arm. Or maybe dude's just had a few too many Five Guys burgers when he goes out with the Pres! The other three look a little heftier than the Pres too!

From Buzzfeed.

15 Pictures Of A Colorado Dive Bar Going Nuts For Obama

The president dropped by The Sink, a popular bar and pizza joint in Boulder earlier tonight. Excitement ensued, yogurt was spilled, and nobody was as excited as Madelyn Starkey.

President Obama drops in on little "dive" bar and pizza joint in Boulder, CO.
It appears they all hate him. :P

That first picture is hilarious; that's what I would look like if I met him in a pizza joint :o
