I say reluctantly only because I had been hoping for the opportunity to vote for Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry or some other right wing lunatic in Missouri's open presidential preference primary. Since the outcome for Missouri Democrats is a given (although there were 3 or 4 other candidates), I though I might give my fellow Missourians who vote Republican a little help in selecting their nominee. The Missouri legislature screwed that idea by not moving the election date from February to March. Republicans will ignore the results of today's Republican election and have a caucus system shortly. I'll be damned if I'm going to sit in the same room for a couple of hours being the only Democrat there and pretend to actually favor one of these ding bats.

AP declares Rick Santorum winner in Missouri

Missouri's primary awards no delegates, but the victory gives a boost to the former Pennsylvania senator's efforts to slow Mitt Romney's march to the Republican presidential nomination. Newt Gingrich did not compete in Missouri.

Results from the Missouri SoS site are shown state-wide and by county.

From my little purple part of MO:

There was a question whether to retain a local sales tax (it passed) on all St Joseph ballots which probably received more attention than any of the presidential candidates.

I haven't been watching in these three states - was the Frothmeister that much ahead in the pre-election polls? He seems to have trounced the others. Honestly I thought he was all but ready to throw in the towel.

What a show.

Totally uninformed opinion here, but Romney seems to only win where he can utterly flood the airwaves with money, which he was doing to get that air of inevitability. He probably didn't bother here, or was trying to conserve hios ready cash which is why one of the not Mitts won. He probably wants to have the nomination locked in by super Tuesday As the last thing he wants is to burn up his money spreading it around 20 states (or however many there are voting)

There are 53,227 registered voters in Buchanan County, MO. Only 6890 ballots were cast in yesterday's election.

If it weren't for the local sales tax question residents of my hometown probably wouldn't have known there was an election today. I didn't follow any pre-election polls for the other two states.

I think Team Obama recognizes it too, thus the change in policy on SuperPac money. The way to beat Romney by a decisive margin is not just to have lots more boots on the ground, but outspend him too just to make sure.
