Ron Paul is IN.

Quote:
Ron Paul Expected To Launch Presidential Exploratory Committee

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) is expected to announce the launch of a presidential exploratory committee for the next election cycle on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

According to National Journal, the conservative congressman will address the step toward a formal 2012 run in the key early primary state of Iowa.

The news comes in the wake of reports that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), the congressman's son, is mulling a presidential campaign. The Kentucky Republican has signaled that he will not run should his father launch a campaign; however, he said the odds are better than 50-50 that one Paul will be in it to win it in 2012.

That didn't take long. Let's see how Pawlenty performs in the coming months. I am reading reports that he's a dull campaigner. But, it's always tempting to write people off this early in the game. Never forget Bill Clinton! He was a total dud at the DNC in 1988 and was immediately written off as having blown it for good.

Gary Johnson is in. Libertarians on twitter are saying to support him rather than Ron Paul.

I"ve not searched information on Johnson. He was a very successful businessman who ran for and became governor of NM. He was a very popular candidate at the time of his running and he remained popular for a good deal of his term as governor, and somewhat so today.

Without looking back, my memory is that he ran, in large part, on running the state government as a business, being fiscally responsible, and just from memory did a good job fiscally.

His political downfall came when he very vigorously advocated legalizing marijuana and, for the most part, "decriminalizing" many other drug offenses and offering treatment rather than jail for many of those whose only charges were drug-related, not including violent offenders.

I don't see him as a serious candidate capable of winning the nomination, but he indeed should be popular with independents.

This needs to be confirmed.

Process Story

Quote:
We’ve been told that former Ark. Gov. Mike Huckabee, a rumored candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, is giving his former S.C. supporters the nod to seek work on other presidential campaigns. The word is that he’s told South Carolina staffers that they have his blessing for them to peddle their wares elsewhere. If this is as true as it appears, it’s the second major shakeup. Monday, Miss. Gov. Haley Barbour surprised everyone but himself when he announced that he would not seek the GOP nod.

Addy, Huckster's camp is denying:

Quote:
Huckabee camp shoots down rumor he won't run in 2012
By Shane D'Aprile - 04/27/11 05:48 PM ET

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's camp is refuting a South Carolina blogger who suggested Wednesday that Huckabee told consultants in the state he wouldn't run for president next year.

Speculation Huckabee was opting out of a 2012 bid spread after Red State's Erick Erickson tweeted a link to the blog post, along with the declaration, "Mike Huckabee is out. He won't be running for president."

HuckPAC Executive Director Hogan Gidley dismissed it as "unfounded speculation" in a statement, insisting that no final decision has been made.

So Rubio says he will not run for VP. I still think he's the one.

I didn't watch the debate. Even twitter was boring. :-?

Fox's Frank Luntz Group picked Herman Cain as the winner. (some speculate free pizza was involved.)

Apparently Ron Paul got a question about heroin. :-?

Not much about Gary Johnson. the term loser comes up though.

This just in. If God don't love gays, why is he allowing us to move in the direction of treating them equally?

And if He hates Obama, why is he still in office? I done heard that God was omnipotent or sumptin'.

The "debate" was pretty much a dud. I left it on closed-caption mute most of the time while watching a movie. The whole production, including the set, looked less like a Presidential debate and more like a game show.

There seemed to be little excitement in the audience for the candidates, except from the Paulites, of course.

Luntz & Hannity with the focus group.

I suppose the lawyers might say Hannity is "leading the witnesses".

Did you notice how Fox misled by how they labeled the graph? Luntz indicated the group were "conservatives" and "less conservative", but the graph showed "CON" and "MOD" -- So moderates are now conservative?

I suppose in SC they are.

also, I see there are only Caucasians living in S.C., according to the focus group sample.

The comment on the 'debate' that I liked the best was along the lines of Pawlenty came out looking the best because he has the fewest flaws.

Impressive group. Throw in Palin and Trump and Cirque de Soleil will have the cast for its Les Ridicules show.

I liked a headline I saw that Pawlenty won against Romney.

Since I have no idea how to embed a video from NBC, I'm just going to link to Jesse's post at Immoral Minority. It's from last night's SNL, the "second" GOP debate on Faux, featuring Tina Fey as Sarah Palin: http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/ ... nl-as.html

OPINION: Ron Paul driving Republicans' White House campaign
By Juan Williams - 05/09/11 06:11 AM ET

Here’s a news bulletin — it is becoming increasingly clear that we are living in a time when Republican politics are being shaped by a 75-year-old, 12-term Texas congressman with a son in the Senate. And incredibly, it is no longer out of the realm of possibility that this outcast of the GOP establishment may win the party’s presidential nomination.

If you have not been paying attention, it is time to look around and realize that we are living in the political age of Rep. Ron Paul.

A CNN/Opinion Research poll released late last week shows Paul faring the best against President Obama of any potential Republican candidate. He trails the president by only 7 points, 52-45 percent, in a head-to-head matchup. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee trails by 8 points, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney down 11 points to Obama.

The serial adulterer will announce on Wednesday.
Quote:
ATLANTA - A spokesman for Newt Gingrich says the former House speaker will announce Wednesday he is running for president.

Rick Tyler said Gingrich will make the announcement by Facebook and Twitter. He will give an interview to Fox News later that night.

Gingrich will offer his first speech as a presidential candidate at the Georgia Republican Party Convention on Friday.

This was funny but I didn't think the impersonation of my anchorman boyfriend was very good! Although after "Michelle Bachmann" did her thing and "Shep" said " Wow I'm scared and horny", I thought of poutine and his penchant for crazy ladies.
