I couldn't find a better place to post this. Please move if need be, green person.

Another childhood home could soon be joining this humble but distinguished list. Legislators in Hawaii are working on getting a 1960s-era Honolulu apartment building added to the National Register of Historic Places. Barack Obama lived in the 12-story building with his grandparents from 1971 to 1978.

Mahalo for that link. It will be interesting to see in the years ahead, if the Punahou Circle apartments end up in the National Register. It's also amusing that the Dunham/Obama apartment looks straight-on at Kapiolani Medical Center from the lanai/balcony, at an intersection that's really pretty: Beretania & Punahou. The open grass areas adjacent to Central Union Church, also visible from the Dunham apartment, already make up a pretty potential park under the shade of monkeypod trees. HIPAA laws are a newer variable here when it comes to Presidential birthplaces. I'll bet that the folks at Kapiolani, with Obama's permission, would love to put up a commemorative plaque. And Punahou School is also only 3 blocks away. Us folks in Hawaii are just embarassedly proud of our "Favorite Son." I fully expect that an Obama Presidential Library will be in Chicago. But Hawaii will also want to celebrate this President. The U of Hawaii East-West Center will likely commemorate his parents in some way too. I'll just "stay tuned" I guess.
