I don't know if this was expected or not. The Socialists are back in. Voters are tired of austerity measures apparently.

BBC News Europe France election: How Francois Hollande won by Hugh Schofield
Quote:
Here are some of the merits that have brought Francois Hollande to election victory: intelligence, patience, consistency, likeability, and a hidden vein of steel.

And here is another: exceptionally good fortune.

Events have conspired to aid this patently decent, but patently inexperienced, socialist along the rocky path to the Elysee.
...
... when it came to the campaign, he was up against a man whose personal unpopularity was legend.

That's the last news from occupied France unsigned
Quote:
Hollande was elected by the Muslisms:

A survey (of 10,000 Muslims) shows that 93% of the Muslims voted for him.

As 2 million Muslims participated in this election, Hollande got 1,720,000 Muslim votes more than Sarkozy did: (0.93-0.07) x 2,000,000 = 1,720,000 But at the end, in the whole population, he got only 1,139,316 votes more than Sarkozy.

So, without the Muslims' votes, Sarkozy would have been re-elected.

The writer then says that France is facing a civil war in a few years.

I have not yet found the survey to which this writer refers. It may be the unpublished 'Opinionway for Le Figaro' survey. I also have no idea how the writer knows that two million Muslims voted. Credible statistics say that there are 2.1 million Muslims in France, although the government estimates 5-6 million based upon geographic origin of a person or that person's parents.
