I think some of us rather enthusiastically took up the "knit-picking" malapropism from some recent birther filing or comment.

It's the sort of thing, with 'denined,' 'baned,' comma abuse, etc., that would make a newcomer think we're illiterate.

When your kids get head lice, you learn the real meaning of "nit picking". Nits are the eggs of lice, which are tightly glued near the base of hair shafts. I've spent many hours nit picking.

Luckily, none of my kids or grandkids have experienced that problem.

I did, however, learn everything (and more) I ever wanted to know about he subject (and more) while working on a product liability case brought against a manufacturer of a lice shampoo (IIRC) product. The assertion was that the product caused brain damage. The case settled, shortly after the young girl's death, for around $6.4mm, as I recall.

It was a NJ-based company that played hide the ball with all manner of document production and was a real sleazebag bunch.
